We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Megan, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process behind starting my own yoga business was to share with people the power of yoga, that it’s not only a means to strengthen the body but as well as a way to sharpen the mind and grow a spiritual practice. The decision to open my own business is also a personal journey, as yoga has transformed my life. It’s like it was introduced into my life when I needed it the most, and through the practice of yoga I was able to navigate through a lot of difficult events in my life. It’s given me gifts such as self-compassion, self-love, gratitude and peace. I want to hold space for others to experience the same joy.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a certified yoga instructor trained in vinyasa, a breath to movement practice. I provide private and group lessons, which have options to add a curated playlist, an oracle card reading or inspirational palm stones for intention setting. Outside of yoga, I offer experiences which include guided hikes with light yoga and meditation. I believe mother nature is the almighty healer, and by immersing yourself in nature, you can facilitate concentration and improve overall well-being. I believe what sets me apart is that I offer an innovative way to explore yoga, and to discover the true authentic self as well as the desire to deepen that connection. I want people to discover more than just the physical aspects of yoga. I want people to feel empowered and transformed.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

There is an extensive list of restaurants to explore, but it must include Bar Mercado located in Krog Street Market for the sweet potatoes and guacamole, Bar Taco in Inman Park for the spicy margaritas, and Jinya Ramen in Buckhead for a tasty bowl of noodles.

I would definitely have to include a bike ride on the Atlanta belt line to stop by to explore Ponce City Market, and lounge at Piedmont Park.

Lastly, you can’t forget to hike at the East Palisades Trail to soak up the sun in the forest, and check out views of the Chattahoochee River.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to recognize my Mother, Debbie Williams. She always holds space for my dreams, and supports me in any way she can. Also, I would like to give a shout out to my brother Joe Williams, for always believing in me. As well as my best friends Ryan Bolling and Sarah Polattie. They are always encouraging me to keep pushing ahead with my business and personal goals. Last, but not least, my long time friend Sinoun. She is the one I can always count on for spiritual guidance.
