We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Brent and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Megan, what do you attribute your success to?
I feel the most important factor in my success and brand is my presence. I have always been aware, my name and face are attached to The Pear. My guests and clients know I’m in the kitchen cooking if they’re eating my food, be it at the restaurant or at a catered event. If I’m not cooking, I’m coming from the kitchen to say “hello” and/or squeeze your neck! (Pre/pro Covid)
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Perfect Pear started as a catering company in 2009. A push from our clients for lunch service and a great opportunity found us in our current home at 922 Carroll Street smack dab in the middle of Historic Downtown Perry. The Pear opened for lunch service in June of 2011. We continue to, proudly serve Middle Georgia , as an award-winning caterer. Has it been easy? No. Anyone that uses the quote, “Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life”, has never been in food service. I assure you. Have you and one other person ever hand-washed dishes for 500-600 people? (3 courses and glasses) That’s work! The food is the easy part. Profits are low, prices are high. My back is bad, I’m cranky and my truck smells of garlic and whatever sauce was on the chicken at last week’s wedding. That being said, it is , truly, the most fulfilling and rewarding thing I’ve had the honor to complain about. We have the most amazing patrons/guests! Anyone that knows me, knows The Perfect Pear is my life. Some things I’ve learned: I would certainly remind anyone interested in giving their life to food, pay attention to what doesn’t work. Thats equally as important as to learning what is effective. Make decisions that work for you. Plan. Plan. Plan. Then have back-up plans. You have to be a problem solver! Be consistent. Don’t try to do “it all.” Don’t get wrapped up in “reviews ” Do what YOU do and do it well.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Perry and Houston County, Ga, have been tremendous in The Perfect Pear’s success. The Chambers of Commerce, the amazing business owners that go out of their way to support others’ businesses. We live in such a special community that truly understands how important it is to shop and eat locally. So many of my employees have become my family. It takes a village to run a catering company!
