We had the good fortune of connecting with Meg Silva Stautberg and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Meg Silva, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
One of my former bosses always quoted, “Work to live don’t live to work.” As I progress further and further into full-time photography, this is a motto that I keep at the forefront of my mind. In today’s world, it can become so easy to get wrapped up in an endless amount of work, chasing opportunity after opportunity just because we might have the time. However, balancing work while still enjoying the little things in life is something I want to continue to practice as my business continues to grow.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Creating art in such a pure form can either be a painful challenge or a seamless transition, depending on where an individual is on their own journey. Something I only fully understood until recently is that our business and our brand as artists is a reflection of who we are and who we want to be. If individually we’ve yet to define this (@ me last month), then of course this will be a difficult idea to digest.

In my photography, I aim to capture the old-fashioned love stories. My vision is to share the kind of love we see in movies and hear about in songs – think old Taylor Swift song vibes.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Can I be the visiting best friend in this scenario? I actually just moved to Greenville, SC at the beginning of September after being an Atlanta native for the past 5 years. Nevertheless, I always love exploring neat landscapes first and then showing off community driven businesses and sharing the history behind them. Ponce City Market and some of the other upcoming districts are my personal favorites.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
In the famous words of Justin Bieber, “I just want to say thank you so much. Not only to God, but to Jesus.”

To add – there are so many people who deserve so much gratitude in helping me get to where I am today. First and foremost, this journey wouldn’t have started if my family didn’t believe in my dreams. My friends, church community, and mentors have all played a huge role in supporting me and helping me learn essential skills to thrive as a leader and entrepreneur.

Some people I truly want to raise up are my fellow photographers and creatives in the Atlanta area that really helped foster my early career. We all know the creative fields (and any industry for that matter) can be insanely competitive. However, I always appreciate when community comes together to support one another rather than creating a cut-throat environment where people refuse to share ideas and help mentor others.
