We had the good fortune of connecting with Meadow Maraj and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Meadow, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I discovered my purpose at a very young age. My purpose is leave leave what or whoever I come in contact with better or happier than when I first encountered it. As a singer/musician I share a piece of myself with audiences and aim to leave them feeling happier, refreshed, and cleansed. As a hairstylist, I aim to help my clients have a healthier, more beautiful head of hair than they started with. Once I knew my purpose it was easy to choose my career paths.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My music is me. Anything I write is from an experience recent or past, emotions I feel, shows I watch, even my breakfast inspires my music. I only give authenticity in everything that I do. I only know how to be me. That’s what sets me apart. God’s grace is the only reason I’m able to be where I am now professionally. I’ve battled depression, anxiety, near homelessness, extremely toxic relationships, and have worked 3 jobs and a side hustle to stay afloat. I’d work pay my bills, promo model, work the club scene, and do food delivery on the weekends, just to make money to support my dreams. Through all of those things I’ve learned that God is always with me and will always make a way, not to take any handouts because nothing man offers is truly free, and to stand on my own two feet and get it done. I want the world to know that I truly am “Every Woman” My brand embodies strength, determination, self discovery, spirituality, happiness, sadness, the classy, the “ratchet”, it’s all in me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a foodie at heart, so I would take them to The Flying Biscuit. We’d start with Mango Mimosas (as many as we can handle), order appetizers, food; I would get the Chorizo Hash (it’s amaze-balls!). Then leave and go to the corner store, buy some lottery tickets, hot pickles, chips, a blue “drank” and ride out. I love the aquarium so we’d definitely have to go there. Then to the Selfie Museum so we have some content for the gram, and go on a shopping spree to end it.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my family and friends back home in Phenix City, AL and in Birmingham, AL, the Glam Fam at Glam Kouture Salon, my assistant/creative director/stylist Royal Cromwell, my sound engineer at Soundsfromthe9, and production manger/music director Corey Williams.
