We had the good fortune of connecting with Mckenzie Martin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mckenzie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As someone who works a non traditional full time job I needed a way to use my creative side in my free time. I have always loved finding new hobbies, crafting, and gift giving. When a friend sent me a picture of a customized bottle sold for $250 on urban outfitters I told her I could make it! This just kind of took off. I decided to make all sorts of custom bottles and found joy in being creative and being part of the gift giving process for other people.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Because MckenziieMade is my fun side hustle. It allows me to continuously have creative freedom and take risks. As a flight attendant I have complete schedule freedom and can sometimes have lots of downtime. When I decided to create an Etsy shop and share it on Facebook I was nervous what others would think and that no one would be interested. Since then I have received so much love and support and hope to continuously grow my little small business.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Probably starting the day at a workout class I love burn boot camp. And then I know this is controversial but being from north Georgia we are definitely going to lake Lanier! For dinner we are going to my favorites all week- Fado Irish pub in Buckhead, Delbar in Inman park, and Eight Sushi lounge in Atlanta. If it’s a Monday night we’ll end it at Johnnys Hideaway dancing the night away. We’ll probably be going to a braves game and bar hopping at Truist park. And if it’s a Sunday we’ll be at church in Gainesville at Free Chapel.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Kay Paschal – author of Insert giggle giggle continuously supports me and shares my small passion with those she meets.

Laurel Kate – my bestie who constantly supports me and continuously creates new ideas for me to try out.
