We had the good fortune of connecting with Mazirati and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mazirati, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve always been a creator since a child. With my mother being a painter I was bound to do something creative, which I did from physical to literary to musical, you name it, I’ve had some experience with it. For some reason I just felt that was my calling in life. Even as kid when they would ask what I wanted to be when I got older, of course I would say the generic answer but truly, I wanted to be a ballerina, but I kept things like that to myself to dodge any judgment. I’ve just always had a thing for creative things and watching my ideas come to life. I feel like other fields are so restricting or predictable and I usually feel out of place in those situations so being a creative is just like my natural habitat in a way.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Currently I’m rotating between a rapper, nail tech and designer. It seems like a lot (which it is) but these three things are what I’m most passionate about. I’ve been doing nails since about 2018 and I’ve been making music since about 2017. When it comes to my music I do believe I’m in my own lane with my own sound, look and approach. Currently, I’m working on a two part mixtape called ‘From Venus, w Love’ and its going to sound like nothing ever before. Coming into the music scene around 2019 seriously especially as a woman was not easy. People underestimate you, over look you or may even belittle you but at the end of the day that doesn’t determine my success so I constantly keep going. Honestly I think that’s my true motivation. Of course I love the music but the fact that people are sleep makes me want to wake them up which will be extremely soon. After my first mixtape ‘MaziWRLD’ I can’t wait to give my supporters some more music because I know they’ve been waiting for it. ‘Outta Ur League’ from the tape hitting 100k streams was such a milestone for me that it made me consider even thinking about giving up. Music and fashion are my true passions being a nail tech is just helping fund the dream, and also my clothing line ‘EXOTICA’ will be dropping late 2022.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Houston is an extremely boring city you’ll do better going on a real vacation instead.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to first shout my mother for giving me the motivation to be confident in myself, my creativity and my ability to reach any goal I aspire. Next, my sister Eden for being an on call photographer/videographer at any moment, vloging history there when no one was. And, lastly God for life.
