Meet Maya Mapp | Creator & Founder of the “MAPPED OUT” Brand

We had the good fortune of connecting with Maya Mapp and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maya, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk-taking is equivalent to FAITH in my eyes. My faith has carried me to places that my “hustle” could not. I learned in my younger years that stepping out of my comfort zone and taking a risk would be absolutely necessary if I expected to see any personal growth. Working full time, while trying to balance developing my personal brand isn’t easy, but has proven to be worth it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Life is all about pivoting & in 2021 I learned a major lesson in it. I recently made a major professional shift and have started working full-time for a nationally known non-profit organization (The United Negro College Fund) as Program Manager.

Did I ever see myself serving in this capacity? No, but do I enjoy what I do and how I have the opportunity to grow and challenge myself consistently, yes!

Therefore, when it comes to overcoming challenges or unexpected events, I’ve learned that it’s really all about my attitude and the perspective I choose to have; this is what I challenge my community (Mapped Out) to think about. Mapped Out is an all-inclusive brand that empowers men and women to create a life centered around love, faith, and transparency.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Aunt, Terrica Zellner. She is one of my biggest supporters. She serves as a confidant as well as advisor to me. I’ve never seen her complain or fret about any responsibilities even while doing some of the most taxing work (typically the stuff that most people don’t have the patience to do). I continue to see her persevere through really tough times with so much grace and poise, which inspires me daily.
