We had the good fortune of connecting with Matt Harper and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Matt, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I identified an untapped market I wanted to penetrate. Immediately after graduating from Morehouse College, there weren’t too many experiences where young professionals could frequent; where they could have a great time, interact with the top professionals in the city and end the evening feeling like they gained something and (or) empowered from it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am the Principal Owner of Esquire Branding Agency — a 360 Marketing Agency — that specializes in Event Production, Branding (Digital Marketing, Social Media Strategy & Promotion) and Creative Services (Photography, Videography, etc).

I’m most proud of building a brand that professionals trust. A brand that people believe in and known to deliver consistent results. I’m also proud of the relationships I’ve built with major brands like The Gathering Spot, Goorin Bros, The Emerging 100, The Fox Theatre. etc.

I’ve gotten to where I am today by running my business with integrity and transparency. I pride myself on “doing good business,” and the universe will always reward that.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my best friend to “Slow Jams” every Wednesday at the James Room @ 7PM. It’s an event dedicated to playing your favorite R&B jams over award-winning cocktails, surrounded by a young professional crowd!

On Thursday, we have to go to Esquire Thursday x In The Mix ATL — a two-level experience with amazing dining on the main level and high-energy dancing and drinking on the top level.

An exciting event that will happen October 8th is the RNB House Party in collaboration with Esquire Branding Agency & DaySnatchers. We’re about to make history with this one!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Yes, there are! I believe everyone needs help, and owes someone deference & reverence for lifting them up to respective heights! My mother, Sabrina Harper, is one of the most selfless, intelligent and loving human beings I have ever been graced to know….God just happened to bless me with her being my mom. She was patient with me. She was the first investor in Esquire Branding Agency. I owe her for my life literally and figuratively. My father, Michael Harper, a blue collar guy who beat the sun rising and would come home after the sunset for work over 30 years. He does that for his family. That showed me the true definition of hard work. My siblings: Johanna, Chloe and Gabriel. For their unwavering support and love. And the Emerging 100, the most prominent community service organization in the South. showing me the meaning of Servant Leadership — and how donating your time, for the right reason, positively impacts your community.
