We had the good fortune of connecting with Matt Griffin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Matt, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I just wanted to see if I could do it.

I’ve been in the pro wrestling business since 1998. I’ve seen a lot of different business ideas succeed and fail. I’ve seen some people talk big and be gone in months, and some last decades.

I wanted to see if I could pull together all my creativity into one effort, ACTION Wrestling.

We’ve had a number of wrestlers who’ve worked for us over the 4+ years go on to sign contracts with promotions on national television, tour overseas, and really make a name for ourselves. We want to not just be in the local Georgia scene, but seen nationally on our distribution service IWTV.live.

ACTION Wrestling is seen across the country, across the world, been featured in magazines we are known as a promotion where you can really be seen.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I was able to pick up a lot of different ways to do the same thing. That was a huge help.

I broke into wrestling in Virginia and did the VA/NC/NJ/PA/WV shows. I was an active duty Marine, and was sent to New Orleans where I did LA/MS/AL. I then got into the GA scene.

There was so much variety and I learned what I thought worked. Even more importantly, I saw a lot of things (matches, wrestlers, promotional ideas, management styles, etc) that did NOT work and I learned even more from that. I learned how I didnt want to be treated and do my best not to fall into those traps.

ACTION Wrestling though isn’t what it is because of me, it’s because the wrestlers themselves come in and work hard, make this a place to be seen. They put on the show, and make us look like the best bookers, the show quality is all because of them, not me

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love Atlanta. It’s such a cool city with tons to do.

I’d love to start at CNN Center on a Friday night with a quick dinner and head next door for an Atlanta Hawks game. After they win, head to the gigantic ferris wheel and check out Atlanta.

On Sat hit an early lunch, walk the beltline and find a brewery. Dinner is over at Bones, and then a comedy club show.

Sunday is dealer’s choice, just explore

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife Rebecca had always encouraged me, and tried to talk out under what scenario promoting live pro wrestling shows might work. When it came down, and I had a building that I imagined would be successful she helped by supporting me in the lead up to show night and by running concessions during the shows themselves. Couldn’t do it without her
