We had the good fortune of connecting with Mason Douglas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mason, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think taking risk are extremely important however I am one that strongly advocates for taking calculated risk. In all honesty taking risk has completely changed my life around. I took the biggest risk of my life so far almost a year ago today. When I took that leap of faith and moved from Baltimore to Atlanta my life has changed for the better. The things I have experienced, the people I’ve met, & the stuff I’ve seen I would’ve never gotten a chance had I stayed in Baltimore. Without rest there is no reward but again you can take a calculated risk I do not believe in just jumping into the deep end.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an actor, an event host, model philanthropist and business owner. I believe all my talents and paths of work set me apart from others. I am most proud of my philanthropy efforts but also my strides in the acting game. I got where I am today by a lot of hard work, Faith, planning, and prayer. It was not easy & it continues to get harder and harder every day but that’s what makes the journey so much more sweet. It feels good to know that you’re working hard for what you have. I overcame the challenges & found consistency in my resilience not to quit. The biggest lesson that I’ve gained along the way is that being you and your authentic self is the best gift you have. You’d be surprised how much you win NOT based off of what you can give or what you have but who you are. I would love the world to know that I am truly a living example of God’s grace. I am a vessel and role model for the many children who come behind me with similar backgrounds or any other child for that matter that may struggle in life. Anything is possible if you work hard and God will never give you more than you can bare.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta is a gold mine for activities it’s so much to do but some of my favorite things would be to take them on a hike at Stone Mountain, bowling at the painted pin, Six Flags over Georgia, the Georgia aquarium, Puttshack in West Midtown, a Hawks game at State Farm Arena, skyline Park at Ponce city market, shopping at Phipps Plaza, and the Martin Luther King exhibit. While here we must go eat at breakfast at Barneys, Grand Lux Café and victory restaurant. Lastly we would end it with a night of live music at Apache lounge and go party at some of my favorite spots like Gold room, Aura Bar and lounge & Josephine lounge.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I know this may sound generic and unthought of but the truth of the matter is it has taken me 10 minutes to think about how I want to answer this question because there are so many people I would honestly like to thank. I don’t want to leave anyone out nor do I want to disregard what anybody has done for me no matter how big or small. You could’ve given me a word of encouragement on a day that I was down, fed me, took me on a trip, gave me a birthday gift, introduced me to someone, gave me an opportunity etc. So honestly and truly in the sincerest way possible from the bottom of my heart anybody and I mean anybody I’ve encountered on my journey of life whether it be a lifelong family member or a stranger I met for 5 seconds in another state that I haven’t seen since, thank you so much for being a part of my journey.
