Meet Masha Carter | President & Founder of Cosmic Design Studio

We had the good fortune of connecting with Masha Carter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Masha, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve always had a deep desire to be part of the creative world, connecting with people and making a meaningful impact. Communication, helping others, and storytelling are at the core of who I am. Growing up, I was always performing – from dance competitions and acting to school plays and poem contests. I loved using various forms of art to tell stories. My grandma introduced me to the beauty of creativity through museums and exhibitions, while my mom’s impeccable taste instilled a love for fashion. Together, we explored new places and cultures, broadening my horizons and deepening my appreciation for diverse environments.
In college, I studied Marketing, recognizing it as a perfect blend of creativity and storytelling. I earned my Master’s Degree in Moscow and completed an MBA in Atlanta upon coming to the United States.
During my journey, I met my husband with an Architecture background, and our skillsets aligned perfectly. We started Cosmic Design Studio together, combining his strategic thinking, design expertise, and construction experience with my creativity, marketing, and business acumen.
The design industry became an outlet where my passions for dance, acting, fashion, art, voice-over work, writing, and videography converged. These experiences enriched my creative nature and honed my eye for aesthetics.
Designing spaces, indoors or outdoors, is an art that transcends boundaries. It encompasses lifestyle choices, fashion, and the details that define us. Our company curates unique experiences for our clients, and nothing brings me greater joy than witnessing their visions come to life.
This career path allows me to fully express my innate creativity and aesthetic sense. It’s the perfect blend of my skills and knowledge, driving my dedication to this dynamic field. Design isn’t just a profession; it’s a passion, a journey, and a way of life that continues to inspire me daily.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Cosmic Design Studio was founded to redefine luxury outdoor living in Atlanta. Recognizing a longing for holistic luxury outdoor design, we blended my husband’s analytical prowess, architectural background, and industry insight with my creative aesthetic backed with marketing expertise. With complementary strengths, our synergy and shared passion for design fuels our company’s growth, offering the innovative, aesthetic, and functional outdoor living experiences Atlanta yearns for. Our philosophy is to design timeless, functional spaces that are engineered to last for many generations. Reducing the need for ongoing maintenance and future renovations greatly reduces the lifetime environmental impact.
We have built a reputation for our modern and innovative projects. More than half of our Atlanta-based team have different nationalities and we have collective backgrounds in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Interior Design, Construction, Engineering, and Business. We have a studio approach to design and a melting pot of ideas and expertise that allows us to bring our client’s dreams to reality.
Our vision is to be the leaders in innovation and luxury design and construction of swimming pools, outdoor living spaces, and landscaping in Atlanta. We strive to be a positive resource to our industry, partners, and community.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First of all, I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my mom who has always been an influential figure in my life. She instilled in me the values of discipline, taking calculated risks, and embracing fearlessness, shaping me into the person I am today. Secondly, a special mention to my husband, my biggest cheerleader, who wholeheartedly supports me in all my pursuits.
