Meet Mary Latreece | Founder of JTT Accessories

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mary Latreece and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mary, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Right now I still have my full time job as a consultant in the IT space so it’s been a balancing act trying to expand and climb both ladders since I enjoy aspects of both. My toddler makes everything an even more interesting but I have the resources and support to get it all done. It might not be perfect but it’s the steady progress I strive towards.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
JTT Accessories was birthed about a year or so right before the Pandemic. The germaphobic cannabis consumer in me thought it made sense. Once I had the idea to start my business my thought process behind moving forward was I that I had nothing to lose. It is in an industry that I love and it is every growing and changing. I saw the potential and it made sense.
I realized how many people were passing around joints and I started to think about all the germs that were being passed as well, but my pre-roll came with a removable tip. I could take it off before passing it, but it wasn’t meant to be reused. This prompted me to look for a better solution to keep us as germ free as possible while we’re consuming. A mouth guard.
The chill stone is a joint holder and one hitter that can be worn on a chain and there is no other product on the market like it so that’s what sets me apart.
Starting a business is never easy everyday is a learning opportunity. I think it’s important to take calculated risks and never be afraid to fail. Learning from positive and negative situations is invaluable and has played a major role in my life and business.
We as a brand believe in conscious consumption from seed to sale. We encourage cannabis consumers to deliberately make purchasing decisions that they believe have a positive social, economic, and environmental impact.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my bestie was visiting I’d definitely have to take them to Ponce City Market and have some drinks on the roof top. There are some amazing black owned businesses, great restaurants and beautiful views. Another favorite of mine would be the Truist Park. A family friendly spot with a great night life and maybe we’d catch a show at the Coca Cola Roxy Theater.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to my friend Eric York for recommending. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck really. This gem really put things into perspective for me in regards to what is truly important in my life and what I give my energy toward. I highly recommend it.
