We had the good fortune of connecting with Marqy Marq and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marqy, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think that risk taking is inevitable. At some point we all have to make very important decisions. When I first moved to Atlanta I came with 1,500 dollars in my account and a dream. I had no place to stay, as living arrangements fell through upon my arrival. I stayed in a motel in peachtree corners for about 4 months. I look back on that now and think, dang I made it. Had I not taken that risk I would not be where I am and who I am now.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think what sets me apart from other influencers and artist is that I don’t have a big machine behind what I do. Everything you see is done by me and my funds. I set up my own backdrops, i film my own content, I also edit my own content. What I’m most excited about right now is school. I’m currently enrolled in school to be a medical aesthetician. I’ve been doing makeup for over 8 years now and I’ve always been interested in skin care as I’ve had issues with acne since a teen. I’m super excited to be able to eventually treat people who are going through what I went through with skin issues. As far as my art goes, I’ve always been creative. Now as an adult I’m a bit more expressive and transparent with my art than I was when I first started out. I used to be so afraid people would think that I’m weird which made me self critical. Everything had to be perfect, that was a very stressful period for me also. I had to unlearn everything that i thought I knew. Then I realized that I do this for me, the praise, likes and gratitude I appreciate hugely, but my art is apart of my healing and growth.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Interestingly enough, I enjoy Panama City Florida. I would definitely take my Bestfriend there for a weekend of fun. We would definitely hit the beach, and then I would take them to some of my favorite bars there.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My partner deserves all the roses! He supports me in so many ways. He’s always helping me with ideas, we talk about creative ideas at times for hours.
