Meet Marquitta Rucker | Founder of SWAT Foundation Inc

We had the good fortune of connecting with Marquitta Rucker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marquitta, what are you inspired by?
I am inspired by my parents. My parents were married for over 30 years before my mom passed from cancer. My mom was devoted to helping our church and the surrounding community. My passion for serving comes from her. My dad was a family man and awesome provider. He definitely passed his work ethics on to me. Best of all, they taught me about Christ. I strive everyday to be more like them.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My name is Marquitta Rucker and I am the founder of the nonprofit SWAT Foundation Inc. SWAT Foundation educates, empowers, and elevates those in the community impacted by cancer. I am proud that SWAT Foundation is a pillar in the community for the underprivileged. SWAT Foundation has been featured in magazines and events have been covered by our local media outlets. I am finally seeing the fruits of SWAT’s labor. This feat has not been easy. We have ran into funding issues, lack of a storage, and working with people who have the same philanthropic passion as you do. We overcame these challenges by allowing GOD to be head of SWAT Foundation. He has always provided the resources needed and placed the right people in our path. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that with GOD the impossible is possible and that I can’t save the world alone. I want the world to know that SWAT Foundation is more than a name, it is a brand. I am passionate about serving because at one time it was me that needed to served. In the words of Walter Reuther, “There is no greater calling than to serve your fellow men. There is no greater contribution than to help the weak. There is no greater satisfaction than to have done it well.”
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Im such a family oriented person. So, everywhere I go is normally a family spot.. My two favorite places to go in Atlanta are the World of Coca-Cola and the Aquarium.The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to GOD for without him none of this would be possible. I’d also like to shout out my earthly dad who’s been my biggest supporter, and my children. I’d also like to dedicate the shout out to the continuous support of our community partners, sponsors, and volunteers.
