We had the good fortune of connecting with Marques Grant and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marques, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Well, I learned at an earlier age, if you learn how to make money with your talents and your passions, it will never feel like work. After a successful career in IT, going to work started to feel like work, but at the gym and training it felt like home. So why not wake up and enjoy doing what I love, all while changing and saving lives?

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am no where near where I want to be, as far as my business. The most important thing I am doing is continuing to be consistent as my authentic self. I know I have the skill set to help everybody, but I will not chase or become another person’s idea of who they think I am supposed to be,this can be very challenging at times. Of course I want to provide the highest level of customer service, but I will not be taken advantage of. I’m learning that communication is the key. All misunderstandings can be handled fast and direct when you just reach out to a person for clarity. And that’s what my brand is about. Leading with grace, but also reserving the right to not accept non-sense or mediocrity.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take my best friend to lunch at 6 Feet Under for drinks and a seafood basket. For dinner, we are going to Apt 4B. All Vibes! Great brunch spot we would check out is Ms Iceys Kitchen. Throughout the rest of week, I would try other black owned restaurants like The Beverly, or Grits n Eggs.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would always start with my mother. She is the example I always want to follow and make proud. Right after that, it would be my team. Working with them on a daily basis keeps my spirits high, and motivates me to be better for the next day.
