Meet MarQ Soul | Singer and Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with MarQ Soul and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi MarQ, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
As a child I have always loved music and enjoy playing instruments and singing at church and school concerts but always considered it as a side hobby. I was really involved in sports and other activities and never considered pursuing music professionally. Even through college, I pursued a business degree in finance and strayed away from music as I never wanted music wanted music to feel like work. But as i matriculated through adulthood, I got the pull to get my life together and focus on my gift and got the word from God that my gift of music was going to help me focus. The day after I decided to get serious about starting my artistry and music performance business I met my first musician partner and within the next month began receiving contracts to perform for private events. It has since been blessings on blessing with new gigs and relationships coming into the door ever since.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My music and performances are based around providing positive energy and experiences. Since the entiry of my busniess has been made the mercy of God’s favor, i find it my resposnsiblity to be able to providejoy and good energy to all of my patrons. It is a platform that I can affect small change in someone just by giving them a good show and positive messaging.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am obviously a big music fan. So my first item would be totake them to see some local talent or band that provides similar vibes and experiences. One of my favorite local bands in Atlanta is the DJ Wright band and i definitely love showing new people there show in addition to getting to learn from them as musicians as well. Secondly, I am a big fan of golf, so i would take them out for a round of fun at one of my favorite golf courses in Atlanta, Browns Mills

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Outside of favor from the lord, My fraternity, Omega Psi Phi, has been tremendous in my path. From promotion and partnership to getting gigs and networking connections, the Bruhz have been the most important network that have kept the ball rolling. I have been able to leverage professional and entreprenuerial efforts as well as support and mentorship from older brothers who have experience in different avenues of business.
