We had the good fortune of connecting with Marlo D. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marlo, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking is a monumental role when looking a one’s life or career choices. Risk taking is unavoidable! The only choices we have, is how big or how small we want that risk we take to be in the lives we live from day to day. I’ve recently decided to take a new perspective on life. Tomorrow isn’t promise, so today, I’m going to make every risk I take count!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I DO MUSIC!

Said by many but understood by few!

Time and experience is what sets all artist apart. With the time I have and continue to put in, I continue to develop my sound. That “Marlo D” sound!
I love my sound and my direction that I am growing in. I continue to greatness at the end of my tunnel.

I am most proud of my growth, and being here in Atlanta continuing to grow.

When you accept being an artist, a musician, you are signing up to be compare and criticized, which is never easy. However, when reframed, those comparisons and criticisms is what ultimately helps us define ourselves. It’s a challenging process, but seeing that it is worth it when you stay committed.

I learned a lot throughout my journey, but what has stuck with me the most is that you have to love what you do. Be pure in why you do what you do. To start and be able to finish any song, video, album or project as apart of my business is the reward for me. All the accolades and monetary success that come with it is the sweet on top! And when you work hard like I do, I’m going to enjoy that too!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Definitely eating at Breakfast at Barney’s Do some shopping at Phipps Mall. I don’t personally own a dog, but the dog park in Lennox is a must see. Grab drinks on the beltline then do some karaoke at a local bar… Dugans is a chill environment. There’s always day parties going on, and restaurants like the slutty vegan and reall tacos would be on the agenda. Finishing a night off at Opium night club is always a vibe.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family has continued to be the motivation and backbone of my success. My son motivates me to be a better person, an example and a leader, while my family holds me down through all of life’s ups and downs. God is the constant that keeps me balanced, always reminding me that I am here on earth for a reason, and that there is still work for me do!
