We had the good fortune of connecting with Markisha Goodman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Markisha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thoughts was taking care of my boys and making woman feel beautiful.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I got started because first I wanted to leave a legacy for my sons. I also got started because I didn’t love me or thought I was beautiful, so I wanted other woman to not feel how I felt , I also do hair so I wanted to make sure when that woman left my chair she felt like a Queen! As the years went by I add making my own jewelry, lip gloss, and eyeshadow to making women feel even better to enhance the beauty in them. Along the way a year ago I lost my son so that was the hardest in my business it slowed me down. I had to overcome because before he died he told me he was proud of me and I should start my makeup I would do good. I am different because I love what I do it’s not a job to me. When wearing my gloss you can also wear it as your eyeshadow that’s what makes me different.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
