Meet Markayle McDaniel | Wildlife Biologist & content creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Markayle McDaniel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Markayle, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Well, I am a wildlife biologist/animal enthusiast, an educator, and (I would say is my favorite thing) a social media content creator that educates, and inspires people to learn more about and protect the natural world. Nature is a beautiful thing that most people take for granted on a daily basis. With climate change, habitat loss, poaching, and other dilemmas that pose a threat against the Flora and fauna on our planet, I want to do my part to not only help firsthand, but to also teach and educate people on the importance of conservation.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Ever since I was a little kid I’ve always had such a strong affinity for animals and nature. Since 2020, that’s when I started school and also my career in content creation. Animals can’t speak like we can, so I want to be their voice and inspire others to not only learn about them and what we can do to help, but also to kindle others to be a voice for them as well. My brand (Kell the biologist) is more than just a brand, it’s a movement.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, I’ll get the animal/nature spot out of the way first haha.

Zoo Atlanta & Georgia Aquarium are a must. Both are AZA accredited (association of zoo’s and Aquariums) and there is a wealth of knowledge to learn about the animals there that helps out their wild counterparts.

Sweetwater Creek State Park is one of the many nature areas that calls Georgia home. if you enjoy hiking, camping, picnicking, bird watching, kayaking and more outdoorsy activities Sweetwater is amazing.

Food
Besides animals, I’m definitely a foodie! The city of Atlanta is packed full of food joints but one of my favorite food spot is Hudson’s grille and Milk n Honey!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I definitely want to give a shout out to my girlfriend Rachel. She is an amazing human being with a bright future! I’m very blessed to have her in my life.
