We had the good fortune of connecting with Marisa Tatum-Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marisa, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
In Black and Hispanic communities, there is a wealth gap that will take us decades to close. Real estate is one of the most secure ways to not only build wealth, but generational wealth. When I decided to sell real estate, I focused on this issue and felt a personal obligation to reach as many families as I could with the knowledge needed to reverse the statistics. Practicing in this industry is not transactional for me. I have the opportunity to change lives, build security and affect generations.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets me apart is my purpose. I’m not necessarily in real estate for the usual motives. Naturally, I’m an empath and altruistic. I’m driven by community and helping people who often have challenges helping themselves or who don’t feel they have a voice.
I feel like I’m lending to helping communities address societal issues. My work is bigger than me – and that’s what keeps me going.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love Avoir Spa in downtown Lawrenceville.
We’d hit PuttShack in Miami circle.
Dinner in Atlantic Station.
Shopping in Avalon.
Drinks at Louisiana Bistreaux in Buckhead.
Then do touristy things such as Ferris Wheel; World of Coke, Aquarium.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my husband Dion, my rock and superhero.
And to my mother, who was my biggest cheerleader. So much so, that I can still hear her shouting from heaven.
