We had the good fortune of connecting with Marie-Louise Boisnier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marie-Louise, why did you pursue a creative career?
I loved the arts, performing and being creative ever since I was a little girl. I was an only child so I would often entertain myself by playing dress up, singing, watching old movies. I believe this led me down a creative path from the get go. I was always being encouraged by both my mum and grandma to do what I loved. They never put any pressure on me and allowed me to make my own decisions. They both just wanted me to be happy. This allowed creative freedom for me to pursue what I loved and I am very fortunate to have had that.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Performing requires a great deal of patience and faith. It’s not all roses, auditioning and performing is a very vulnerable thing to do. I have found that a positive attitude and mindset has helped me move forward, every room I step into whether it be for a casting director, a show I am performing in or an audition I really want to get. It is important to have a good mindset and attitude to what you bring to the table. The world has changed so much nowadays and people want to be surrounded by people who are willing to work, put in the time and effort and be a team player. I perform in a great deal of musical theatre and I love it! It combines my greatest loves, acting, singing and dancing. There is nothing better than a sold out show and a great crowd to tell a story to. I love live theatre I feel the audience breathing and laughing with us and it makes it so special and authentic. I have started to write my own songs recently and released three singles. I have more to come!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Manhattan, and feel so blessed each day when I wake up that I am able to live here. May favorite thing to do is walk through Central Park, I go everyday! I am very lucky that it is close to me. My favorite thing to do is get a coffee and take a stroll in the park whether it be in the morning or 11pm at night when I can’t sleep it’s amazing. There’s always something to do, the pace of the city is so vibrant and constantly on the move. Definately a Broadway show would be on the itinerary, I love the Edge as I think you have the best view of the city. There’s so much food it’s hard to pick just one place, I would highly recommend a Boozy Brunch, as well as a stroll through Sunday markets with fresh produce, I always love to buy a bouquet for my apartment.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
definitely, my mum she always supported me and inspired me to dream big. Along with friends and family who came to support at each event, or show. The world of Acting is built on community and having met so many incredible teachers on the way especially in New York, I have had the chance to work with some amazing directors all of whom have inspired me to the next level.
