We had the good fortune of connecting with Marie-Claire Quartemont and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marie-Claire, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think about risk as opportunity. If you don’t try for it, you will never know what could have been. I took a huge risk leaving everything and everyone to pursue music and move to Nashville two years ago, and even though it was terrifying, it was worth it. When I moved here I didn’t know anybody, I had a place to live for a month, and I had no job. This was definitely a risk, but I knew that if I let my fear decide my life then I would never grow and never know if music could have worked out for me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a songwriter and artist here in Nashville. I am not the typical Nashville artist though, because I make R&B/Soulful type of music that often references my faith in Jesus and the goal of mine is to uplift people with my music. I am really proud of the single I put out in August. It was my first single and it broke 100k streams which is such an achievement for me. I have loved being able to play live music more and share my soulful music with more and more people. I want my brand to be known for how refreshing, life-giving, and new it is. I want to bring a NEW sound to Nashville and I pray that people would always be introduced to Jesus, the source of my strength and life, through all of it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I always take my friends to a couple of different places. For dinner, I would either take them to Burger Up on 12 South or Pinewood social for dinner and hangs. Pinewood Social has an incredible view and free games and some of the best food in town. Favorite coffee shops are definitely Crema, 8th and Roast, and District Coffee. Nashville is known for the plethora of parks, so I’d probably take my friends to a park for a walk or some spikeball. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Nashville Life Church here in Nashville, TN deserves a shoutout, because they have been support, mentorship, and family to me ever since moving to Nashville. Sometimes I really think that if i never found Nashville Life, I probably wouldn’t have had the courage to stay and keep pursuing music. God through Nashville Life has given me the grit to stay in the industry and keep fighting for what I want.
