Meet Maria Galarza | Industrial Engineer & CEO

We had the good fortune of connecting with Maria Galarza and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maria, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
As entrepreneurs, we have always sought to have a higher purpose, which goes beyond generating income. although it is important, we are convinced that business goals must always be linked to helping the community. That is why we seek to employ mothers who are heads of households for the manufacturing processes . We also Imake donations to foundations for every purchase.
Another way we help the world is through the use of fabrics made with recycled bottles, which give plastic another use and it represents a chance por our environment and our planet
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
something that I feel very proud of is what we have built as a brand, we started knocking on the doors of medical offices offering our uniforms, at the beginning we did not have a salary but we knew that with effort we would be able to position our brand, step by step we started to get recognition and consolidating a work team where the most important thing is a good work environment, love, companionship and dedication. It is amazing to see our brand in every city in Colombia and now in new countries such as Dominican Republic, Chile, Peru, and Costa Rica. The process has not been easy, we have had obstacles, moments where we have had to reinvent ourselves, but the main thing is to never stop believing in our power. An important lesson that we have learned along the way is not to give up, to take each circumstance in the best way and transform the negative into learning and different ways of facing life.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
-The first day I would definitely take them to Cocora Valley which is a place full of mountains and nature, with a unique landscape, I would also take them to Salento which is 15 minutes from Cocora, it is known for its beautiful architecture and for its delicious food such as the trucha (trout); the signature dish from this region. -There is another beautiful town nearby and it is called Filandia, there are excellent restaurants there, my favorite is called Helena Adentro, the food is exquisite and the place is so charming.
-Another place I love is the Nevado de Santa Isabel, it is a beautiful tour with a spectacular view.
-A plan you can not miss when you come to Pereira is visiting Termales de San Vicente, a place when you can relax a lot thanks to hot water, the pools and the food are amazing.
-I would spend one day taking them to Armenia y Manizales which are cities located nearby, and that are part of the coffee region too, of course we would drink a lot of coffee
-The food here is delicious, so it is important to try empanadas, arepa con queso, arepa de chocolo, chorizo
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First of all, our team, it deserves all the recognition, because we would not be anything without them, thanks to their daily effort we are who we are now, thanks to their job and their dedication a lot of things have been possible, we also want to thank our partner Juan Alejandro Castillo because he has been our mentor through this journey.
