We had the good fortune of connecting with Margeaux Kittles and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Margeaux, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Work/life balance requires intentional planning, sacrifice and consideration. It doesn’t necessarily just happen. I’d have to argue that for most of us, I will not happen without careful consideration of goals and priorities. For me, these factors have changed over time. Just three years ago, my life looked totally different. I was a single professional, and able to focus solely on my priorities. Today, as the mother of 3 children under the age of three, a wife, daughter and an entrepreneur; finding a healthy balance is a daily goal for me. The most valuable piece of advice I can offer is to create a culture of grace. By extending yourself and others grace, you model flexibility and understanding to others around you. This helps when you need the same from others. I understand that the why I choose to balance it all affects the others around me. For that reason, I always try to seek ways to minimize impact to others, verbalize my needs (and a few wants) and stick to non-negotiables (i.e. time with spouse, children and work-related deadlines). This allows me view “balance” as a fluid plan rather than a vexing challenge.
What should our readers know about your business?
As a coach and strategist, I work collaboratively with professionals and business owners to navigate arduous circumstances. Specifically, I serve as a thought-partner who in conjunction with my clients, to design solutions to professional challenges. This is achieved through the utilization of thought-provoking exercises, intentional dialog and action planning. The ultimate goal is to encourage clients to maximize their personal and professional potential. My practice is unique because we keep the client at the forefront. This is achieved by recognizing the client as the expert in his or her life and work. We empower them to be creative and resourceful when working to overcome challenges. Further, on-going success is managed and promoted through accountability meetings at agreed upon intervals along the way.
My clients rave about how personable I am and my attention to detail. Having earned a formal certification in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, I have unique ability to find solutions that are amicable in nature for all parties.
The challenges that I have experienced along the path of becoming a coach/strategist were mostly self-placed. It is always my intention and goal that the work I do with others is meaningful. My initial feelings and thoughts were things like, “What would make someone want to listen to me?” and “Are other people really interested in what I have to say?” I even questioned whether there was room for another coach! Ultimately, I knew that while there are other people who perform similar services, we all bring something unique to our clients. That uniqueness is based in our individual experiences, perceptions and is shaped by our own world/societal views. I got comfortable with that idea and haven’t looked back since!
I want everyone to know that we are here to help! I love the moment that I get to tell other’s they have the “juice” because they really do. There’s nothing wrong with consulting a coach. If the greats such as Michael Jordan, Serena Williams and Dion Sanders, etc. had coaches, it’s easy to understand that consulting a coach just helps you refine your approach and reach goals faster.

I must shoutout my husband Nicholas Kittles. He has been the most supportive spouse, partner and friend I could ever hope for. I learned how to extend grace to others (and myself) from him. Additionally, his support as a business partner in our joint ventures has motivated me in many ways and is a practical demonstration of being able to truly have a partner in all facets of life. He encouraged me to contribute the affirmations that helped me navigate life’s challenges to a recently published anthology, “I’m Speaking”. I am grateful for his support, encouragement and love.
