Meet MARE | Recording Artist & Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with MARE and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi MARE, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
This is a question I’ve battled with throughout my entire life, especially within my career and the development of my brand. For me, I am a very spiritual person and I believe that we’ve all been placed here for a purpose and assignment. Once you unlock your assignment in this world, nothing else will ever fulfill you in the same way. Every time I’ve tried to walk away or ‘give up’ on my artistry, there’s always been something to draw me right back to it. I think that burnout is very real and it’s perfectly okay to take breaks from your business and brand but if you’re truly called to it, you should always keep going just take it piece by piece.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As an Independent Artist and Songwriter, there is no ‘easy’ part of this journey at all. Every day you are making a conscious decision to show up for yourself and your brand. I’ve been pursuing this industry for 7 years and the biggest lesson I’ve learned is that you are your biggest advocate and individuality will always be the recipe of success. I am most proud of starting my Music Production Company in 2022 Seven7 Solutions which secured the patent and copyrights to my brand name and likeness, as well as releasing my 5th EP ‘Still All Love’: The conclusion to a 5 part R&B series which I confidently believe is my best body of work to date. Both of these accomplishments represent the evolution and elevation of me as a creative and my brand as a business. No longer just a girl with a dream but a woman with a clear vision. I want the world to know that MARE aka ‘MareTheSinger’ is the embodiment of perseverance and the art that I create is for the every day person whose story isn’t always able to be told.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would start the week off light and take my friends to a few ATL ‘cultural attractions like T.I.’s Trap Museum and Ponce City Market for shopping. On Wednesday we would 100% go to Peter Street Station for the live music and open mic jam to catch one of the best organic vibes in the city. Thursday we would hit the Spaceman rooftop in Buckhead for happy hour then Rock Steady later in the evening for dinner and dancing which is arguably one of my favorite spots in the city. My definition of fun is food and tequila so that’s how I like to spend my weekends. Apt 4B for dinner on Friday followed by one of my go to speakeasy’s The James Room. Saturday mornings I love to walk the belt line then grab a matcha latte from one of my favorite black-owned coffee shops ‘Portrait Coffee’ in the West End. If they’re not completely exhausted on Sunday we’re going to church then of course BRUNCH, either Breakfast at Barneys for their soul-rolls or The Select for the bottomless mimosas!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God and my village deserve all of the credit in my story truthfully for constantly encouraging me and cultivating a space of growth towards each and every one of my goals, whether I succeeded or failed the level of love and support never fluctuated. Along my journey, I have come across some amazingly talented individuals who took a chance on me and saw my vision. I am grateful for my producer and best friend Zay Blaze, my mentor “Uncle” Conrad Robinson and my mother and father for spending countless hours pouring into this little dream of mine that is slowly becoming a reality.
