We had the good fortune of connecting with Marcus “DevineSouls” Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marcus “DevineSouls”, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Well my thought process behind starting my own business was quite simple, because I actually come from a long line of entrepreneurs starting with my Grandfather to my Father. That’s what made me really start thinking about having my own business to leave for my children and children’s children, it’s in my blood.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m very proud to say that I’m and owner and creator of a faith based clothing brand called Devine Souls Clothing llc, where we have been on a mission for the past decade spreading the word of God and positive messages thru fashion. It has definitely not been east starting out, we didn’t have a lot of money to start the brand back in 2012 but we sacrificed with a lot of blood, sweat and a lot of tears to get it to where it is today. We overcame those early challenges with prayers, hard work and dedication. We have been blessed to be able to work with the likes of Big Sam of the Eastside boyz, Sean P of the Youngblood’s, Babs the Bunny from making the band just to name a few. Throughout our journey in this industry we have learned a lot of valuable lessons but one that sticks out the most is to never quit and give up on your dreams as long as you keep God first you will forever win. I believe our brand sets us apart from other brands because it’s more than clothing it’s a lifestyle we are living just expressing thru fashion.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was in my city for a week we would check out a local hibachi restaurant which has some excellent food. Then we would no doubt check out the mall and other stores, knowing my friend he is a sneaker head like me so we definitely have to check out all exclusive shoes upstate footworks.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First off I would like to thank God my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for blessing me with the vision of becoming an entrepreneur. Second I would like to thank my mom and dad for instilling in me hard work and dedication. Third I would like to thank my beautiful wife and children for always being so supportive of the dreams and goals God has blessed me with. Last but definitely not the least I would like to thank one of my mentors my Pastor for coaching me along the journey who once told me when I didn’t have such confidence in my life at the time because what I had been thru in life, to borrow his belief in me until I gain belief in myself. I must say by the grace of God I can run thru a brick wall and climb the highest mountain.
