We had the good fortune of connecting with Marcqwuan Reid and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marcqwuan, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
My peers would tell me “Don’t forget to go out and have fun. You’re only young once”. In this sense, they always meant going out to clubs, bars and partying. For one those were never at the top of my fun list, more towards the bottom. If I’m going out for fun I would rather watch or do stand up and network and meet other creative minds there. And two, I work. A lot. So when I’m able to be creative and create content that I enjoy, that is fun to me. Creating content that others enjoy, creates a rush, a high, that only others that want to entertain will understand.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I just started to get paid on social media to the point where I can support myself. The thing that was supporting before was working in construction. A lot of people don’t talk about it but it’s a different kind of grind to work 8-12 hours a day then dedicate the rest of your time into a future business that not only doesn’t pay and support you but u won’t know when it will support you. That’s why it’s important that you enjoy what you do because if you don’t… all you’re doing is getting off work to work more but worst cause you’re working for free. Creating content never felt like work for me but more of an outlet, creative field to be myself and have fun.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a huge foodie. I’m taking my best friend to all of my favorite restaurants. If we don’t do anything else we are eating! The ideal day, we grab breakfast at J Christopher’s in midtown. Then we’re taking electric scooters and cruising all around mid town. Grab some lunch at my favorite soul food spot. Then we hitting the mall, mall of Georgia or Lenox Square. Then to end the night we’re watching Stand Up comedy. If it’s Thursday Monticello. If it’s Tuesday Kat’s Cafe. The weekend Atlanta Comedy Club!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are a few people that I owe for my success. My two best friends Derek and Jaylin. Not only are they the source for most of my content but the reason I got into Influencing. Every time I wanted to quit or thought it was for me they were there to snap me out of it. Also my girlfriend. She’s been my #1 fan, HUGE source of content, agent/manager and my rock. I’m harder and meaner to myself than any hate comment or troll on the internet to the point my head goes to a dark place. Once it starts to get dark, she sheds a lot of light on that darkness. Then my world view literally lightens up
