We had the good fortune of connecting with Marcos Luis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marcos, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Work and Life balance is a hard for some people and easy for others. For some people their career is their work which is different from working on your passion or purpose which makes it easier . My work is as a storyteller and and artist. Initially only as an artist who through my medium I make and tell the stories and now as time evolves I have also become a conduit for others to tell their valuable stories and journeys on my podcast and platform. It has increased my personal growth and provided a means of learning and educating others.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a multi-media artist who is a humanitarian. Aside from appearing/ creating projects for stage ,and film I have been fortunate to use my craft like photography as a tool to aid impoverished people around the World as a photo journalist. In addition to this, I have performed on the World stage as a singer. Currently, I’m extremely excited about my video OneMicNite Podcast with Marcos Luis which is currently in Season Six. The show amplifies voices of its Global guests highlighting their inspiring journeys and OneMicNiteTalks de-stigmatizing Mental Health with candid discussions ways of addressing these issues. In addition, OMN also still continues to provide Live artist performances and an open mic platform.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So, I am in New York City, The City That Never Sleeps. It’s known for many things and mainly The Art scene and sights. That is a wide range of things as NYC is iconic to share.
The first thought is Broadway, however , if you’re visiting know that you can see the big productions that cost a lot ( worth every penny ) but do search the discount when you’re here too at The TKTS Booth in Times Square or online too to see popular shows. Head to Brooklyn For The Bk Museum and dinner at a local restaurant , The Met Museum in Manhattan and walk the Hi-line Park for a view of the City through Chelsea. . Definitely go to Central Park with a new Olympic size Pool and eating area to enjoy a walk, people skating , or a bike ride. Take The Ferry to Long Island City , Queens and enjoy the water and walk and eat at local restaurants or have a drink. There is food everywhere but off the beaten path is the way to go. The smaller hideaways vs the chain restaurants give you experiences like you e never had before.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There have been a lot of people who have guided me along the way. I attended The Red Cross Leadership Development Center at 13 years old and learned skills like Public Speaking, setting goals, and creating Actions Plans and how to achieve them. At 14 years old I returned to teach these same skills to adults. This along with my background in theater , comedy improvisation, and a strong guidance from family members like my Mother and Grandmother all blended perfectly to steer me in a pathway of giving Service and education.
