We had the good fortune of connecting with Mandisa Styles and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mandisa, how does your business help the community?
I use my business to educate business owners on the legal side of business and how to holistically approach entrepreneurship. I believe entrepreneurship is a means to creating generational wealth so my goal is to promote the tools and techniques necessary to produce businesses with longevity! I am a product of Jamaican parentage, so I also partner with local organizations to provide educational support and resources for high school students in Jamaica. I also partner with other local attorneys to host an annual Community Law Day, which gives underserved communities access to practicing attorneys so that we can provide free legal advice to those who may not be able to afford it.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Styles Firm represents entrepreneurs, entertainers, and creative clients in Georgia and across the nation! My firm specializes in corporate entity formation, contract drafting & review, intellectual property protection, and so much more. I help take business ideas from a thought to a full fledged, legally protected business. Whether a business is just getting started or has been in business for a while, I help take care of businesses by securing the legal protections necessary to allow the business to thrive. I bring extensive care, attention to detail, consistent client communication, and professionalism to every matter; and customize my support to the business’ individual needs and concerns. That’s the Styles Way and everyone wants to do business in Style! The journey to this point has not been easy! It has had its ups and downs, for sure. Fear, doubt, and anxiety are thieves of passion and goals, but my faith in God has gotten me through my low moments. My life is filled with lots of support from my family, friends, and mentors; they have played a major role in helping me to overcome the difficulties of my journey. I’m forever grateful! The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to erase any socially constructed idea of a time line. The things in my life will happen in God’s timing and it’s not defined by society’s ideals. I could have avoided a lot of hardships if I had learned this sooner but I think my journey will help the next person out there who needs to another reason to keep going despite the odds.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Exploring is one of my favorite things to do and I can’t wait to be able to do safely again! So, we have week to explore my city? Get in, we’re going for a ride! I’m a foodie so let’s start there: – Escovitchez in Snellville | Great for a modern take on Jamaican cuisine! Cocktails are amazing too! – Upbeet in Atlanta | Amazing lunch spot for something delicious and light! – Louisiana Bistreaux in Decatur | Best Cajun seafood outside of Louisiana, need I say more? – Poor Calvin’s in Atlanta | 1st stop after we leave the airport to get the Lobster Fried Rice and a drink! End of discussion. – Sublime Doughnuts in Atlanta | You CAN’T come to Atlanta and not have a Sublime Doughnut! Places to visit & things to do: – Atlanta Botanical Gardens | Beautiful outdoor garden with lots of photo ops! – High Museum of Art | We’ve got to see the latest exhibits! – National Center for Civil and Human Rights in Atlanta | We honor the past by staying informed, this stop is a must! – Ponce City Market & Skyline Park | Great view of the city and a fun vibe all together! – Porsche Experience Center Atlanta | Driving a Porsche, top level speeds? Um, yes please! – Atlanta Beltline | The Beltline is always a good idea! Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely did not get to this point in my career on my own! I would not be here without God, the support of my AMAZING family & friends, guidance from my mentors, and Dayna Thomas of Dayna Thomas Law! Dayna is great and she has played a huge role in the launch of The Styles Firm. If there are any attorneys or aspiring attorneys that want to own their own business law practice someday, Dayna’s program – The Entrepreneurship Attorney Bootcamp – is a great investment!
