Meet Mamie Pack | Entrepreneur, Educator & Writer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mamie Pack and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mamie, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
As a military wife, momma, educator and entrepreneur, change is the norm for my schedule. I have to be quick to adjust.
In order to create a work life balance, I had to adjust to the demands of that season.
There were a lot of strategies that others recommended, but were not effective or practical for my life demands. During deployments when my children were younger, my days were spent teaching our sons how to read and potty training, while hoping all was well with my hubby serving in the Navy on the opposite end of the world. I spent most of my time writing and working on our business in the late evenings in cities where we didn’t have family or community.
Finding a rhythm that works for me took time.
I chose to find way to build habits I could sustain and that worked for me. I quickly learned to advocate for myself, communicate my expectations, be selective when saying “yes” and build community so I could go back to school, get my Ph.D. and build our business. I identified ways to prioritize self-care and spend time doing activities that gave me joy.
Over time, I realized that journaling is a vital part of my work life balance. Each month I take time to reflect on what’s working, what’s not working, my monthly wins, what I need in this season, and my next step. Using this journaling process along with my daily top three tasks helps me to have a work life balance that allows me to be present with who matters doing what matters.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a firm believer in talking what you know and helping others grow. So that’s what I do. I combine my professional expertise with my personal experience to create content and products that are relevant to women.
As the owner of Mamie L. Pack Media, our mission is to provide stylish and functional stationery to help women live an intentional life.
I built our brand by creating products that I needed. My life was already full. What I didn’t need was one more thing for me to start and one more thing for me to keep up with. All of our products are meant to align with the healthy habits and routines you have already created. So you don’t feel like planning, journaling, and stay productive are just more work for you to do.
Our stationery equips women to live a life of wholeness in five areas of wellness: mental, emotional, intellectual, physical and spiritual growth. From gratitude journals to our Black Excellence planner, we have a variety of products that can fit your lifestyle. By building healthy habits through personal reflection, our products help women of all ages and stages of life.
I also provide practical steps to help women build a healthy, thriving life through my writing where I talk about all things marriage, motherhood, purpose and everything in between. My writing combines inspiration and action. Using journaling, women are provided reflection questions and action steps to take responsibility for the changes they want to see.
I continue to show up as me and create room for others to be invited to the table.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Simple things make me happy when it comes to hanging out. I have to be places where we can laugh, talk, and simply enjoying the atmosphere. I love to find new small businesses to support. So, it’s normal to find me going to new places. Pop ups are my fav. You get to try out something new, learn about different businesses and get a taste of the community.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely! A big shoutout to my hubby who is always dreaming big with me. I am also grateful for my family and friends for believing in the big, listening to my many ideas, showing up, and being a part of the journey while showering me with love and support. They are simply amazing!
Another major shoutout goes to Buy from a Black Woman. Being a part of Buy from A Black Woman has helped me stretch and grow as a business owner. I am truly appreciate being a part of their community.
