We had the good fortune of connecting with Maliyah Mayfield and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maliyah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
As an entrepreneur I find it very important to be around like-minded individuals that really understand you and the journey you are on. This lead me to start Gurl 2 Girl Networking Group! A safe space for creative women to collaborate, network, and showcase their work. We have monthly markets and workshops to help take our brands to the next level.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
One thing I love to do is stay busy! I love all things art and self expression.  I am a Fashion Marketing & Management graduate from Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta. I am a natural entrepreneur by heart! My zone of genius is in marketing and digital presentation, as well as running my own E-Commerce jewelry business (Kalua Rae LLC). As an entrepreneur being around people (especially women) is extremely important to me so I do my best to be active within my networking group. Gurl 2 Girl has been such an amazing venture to take on. I am so grateful for the women who believe in the vision and support the group. I have had amazing growth with both my networking group and jewelry line. Everyday I learn to overcome new challenges that help me grow as a business woman.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Some of my favorite places in Atlanta are: The High Museum of Art, Ponce City Market, The Botanical Garden, Piedmont Park, and Little 5 Points.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to give a huge shoutout to the members of Gurl 2 Girl for being hardworking and dedicated to their brands and the group!
