We had the good fortune of connecting with Malika Rucker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Malika, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my business was, wanting to spread love through my baking. Baking was always a hobby of mine but, As a teenager, I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), an endocrine disorder that affects your hormones and blood sugar levels. This condition can lead to several other medical conditions like diabetes, hypertension, hair growth, and infertility. I had to learn about PCOS and its effects on my body, and I discovered that gluten, sugar, and soy were huge culprits in exacerbating its symptoms.

With that, I started to bake for my wellness. While baking for my wellness and my mental health, I realized that others also dealt with my same issues, titi’s sweet treats was born. I take pride in creating amazing treats for the comfort and happiness of others.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

Where I am in my business is dedicated to hard footwork and consistency. None of it was easy and it still is not easy. However, I am amazed everyday what I achieve in my business.

At TiTI’s Sweet Treats, we are passionate about what we do, and we are dedicated to making a difference in the world, one delicious treat at a time.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, I must say the first place I would take them would be the Georgia Aquarium. Though it may seem an easy answer, it’s not. The aquarium is a beautiful place to see. It is serine and calming and there’s nothing like seeing sea life at work.

I do think there are cute places to visit as far as cities. I would take them to Marietta and McDonough. Places such as scoops ice cream shop and more.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This is such a great question. My biggest shoutout would go to my wonderful husband and my niece. It is these two special people in my life that encouraged me to take my love of baking and start Titis Sweet treats.
