We had the good fortune of connecting with MAKO Girls and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi MAKO, how do you think about risk?
Taking Risk is a big part in our career. The role risk taking as played in our career is us creating our own opportunities and platforms. We invest in ideas that we come up with hoping it corresponds well with our audience. For example, when we first came up with our Carnival Glow Party, it was just a unique way to introduce us to the music industry and turned out to be something great we do annually!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We are a trio sister girl group with a West Indian background. We create pop /R&B music and all of us sing, dance, and rap. In fact that is what we feel definitely sets up apart as well as our style, in our music we have the voices and harmonies of an r&b group but we combine that with our ATL swag. And what built us to where we are today is artist development, mainly because we wanted to have that longevity along with experience. We mentioned experience because we have been performing for 7 years and every moment getting to this point and on is a learning experience. We’ve learned how important it is to know your brand and that practicing your craft makes permanent. We want the world to know that we are a positive brand that shows people to go for what they want and if there isn’t an opportunity for you then make it !

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If it was a week long trip we would go to places like World of Coca-Cola, Georgia Aquarium, Top Golf to have a little fun, shopping at Lenox Mall & Atlantic Station. And for food we have to go start out wit breakfast from IHOP or Waffle house then  lunch something we love american deli & the Dinner  Marzano Italian Restuant or Cafe Intermezzo in Midtowbnand.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We’ve had so much support since day 1 of our career. and want to first shout out our amazing parents. They manage us and push us to be great and make a difference. We also would like to shout out our team behind the music, development, and just support all around. JT-John Thomas II our engineer, Mr. James Slaughter our vocal coach and the Marvelous Enterprise family for taking us in. And finally our family and friends who we built bonds with working together and ones who came to every single performance. Definitely our fans, we love you guys !
