Meet Makayla Callaway: Makeup Artist & Beauty Influencer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Makayla Callaway and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Makayla, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting my own artistry was wanting to uplift others and make them feel beautiful. I was once at a place in my life where my confidence was not where it needed to be. While go through that stage in my life at the time, it caused me to turn to the love of makeup because it made me feel good and express my creativity. Therefore when thinking about the come up of my artistry, I wanted to strive in making other women feel good about themselves even if its just for an hour, I’ve did my job.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I strive to enhance the beauty in all of my clients. I specialize in Glamour and Natural flawless looks, from exotic glitter looks to soft natural red carpet looks. Aside from the glam and beauty. I also specialize in special effects makeup from horror to animation looks. I am very proud of my brand because I am very versatile in my work in hopes of being apart of the film industry one day. What sets me apart from others is that I don’t consider this a job or a hobby, this is my passion and I put my all into what I do. I work very hard to be where I am today. I’ve learned that in business, nothing is easy, you have your ups and your downs but I also learned that consistency is the key to achieving success. I am a young entrepreneur and one of my challenges is my age. People underestimate my work and my ability of perform. I am not a rookie in the game. I may be a young entrepreneur but I always strive to maintain a good reputation behind my brand. These challenges helped mold me into the successful young entrepreneur I am today. I’ve learned to take every challenge head-on because I know it will help me become better in life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend to come into town, I would have a whole day set up mainly traveling throughout the city of Atlanta. starting off with brunch, i would definitely go to Breakfast at Barney”s or Café Intermezzo. I would take them to the the Sky View Ferris wheel to see the beautiful overview of Atlanta. Lastly have dinner at two urban licks or restaurant with amazing fun vibes. Its so many places I can name and new Places that just opened in Atlanta, I could talk for hours about them. But Atlanta is just filled with amazing vibes it would most definitely be a fun week planned out for sure. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout feature to my mother and sister. They are the root of my support system. They witness the amount of hard work I put into my artistry day in and day out. Some days when I feel discouraged or lack motivation, they are always right there to motivate me to keep going and appreciate where I’m at in my life. I’m grateful to have them next to me every step of the way
