We had the good fortune of connecting with Maires Jung and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maires, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
In fact, it was just to be a hobby, I did not have in mind to turn it into a small business. I’ve never had sewed before, but had the desire to learn, just to do few things to myself, my family, friends. One day, I’ve decided to start, I had some ideas of pieces I would like to sew, so I’ve got my sewing machine, turned on the computer, search for videos and started. I still have a long way to become a great seamstress, and one of the ways that I’ve been learning is through my mistakes, understanding, and correting them. Talking to a friend and searching in the internet I’ve learned about Etsy, then I thought, why not? This friend of mine encouraged me to sell my pieces on Etsy, so Homy Home Sewing was born. From a desire to learn something, today I am able to put in practice my sewing skills, as well as my creativity to invent and reinvent sweing pieces for people that share the same passion for handcraft pieces.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Every piece I produce, I do it with love, care and passion. I am always excited when I see people likes or favorite one of my pieces, but let me tell you a secret, every time somebody buys one product, I do a happy dance, it is for me a way to express my happiness knowing that somebody appreciated my work. The cherry on top is the reviews, we know how difficult is to have your products exposed and have an open channel for people to say whatever they want about your products. So far, I am really proud to be a 5 start company at Etsy and some of the reviews are so kind and sweet which makes me keep moving forward, whiteout doubts that everything you do with love and care will come back to you the same way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would say, Spring and Fall, Stone Mountain and Lake Lanier for sure would be the places to take them and have a nice picnic. During the winter, the Botanical Garden has what you need from the light to the hot Chocolate to make everybody feeling cosy and happy. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shoutout my family, my kids and my husband, that has been supporting my journey, and I can not forget my friend Ana Paula, she was the one giving me support & incentive to open up Home Homy Sewing.
