We had the good fortune of connecting with Magdalena Graczyk and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Magdalena, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk for me is the possibility to see who i’m and how strong I’m .risk is possibility to see what it’s waiting for me on the other side of the my fear. Im polish based in Rome from 15 years. I have come a long way to fulfill my dreams. I’ve meet a lot of prejudice and jealousy, but I’ve always looked to fight for my dreams, despite all the odds. I worked for a long time in a hairdressing salon as an art director and at some point I felt that I wanted to study fashion, maybe it’s my mother’s genes, who is a great seamstress. I started study on the fashion and art university and then came covid and a lots of difficulties, but this period showed me and strengthened my belief that nothing is certain and everything depends on us. I was used in the salon, maybe becasue i was foreigner, but I was afraid to leave my job because I needed a contract abroad. Fortunately, I got a job offer on a film set, without any assurances for the future, but I felt inside that this was my way and I just jumped into the deep end. now i’m working on important film productions and i have time to do creative stuff. I decided to buy vintage meslie jackets and convert them into women’s jackets and give them a second life. It’s called MALE•NE, its my name Magdalena in in Norwegian, but the first part of the name is MALE, which means guy, because jackets are men’s so it’s a good combination for my brand. My dream was to create my own path and to decide my free time so i could see my family more often. this most important decision in my life paid off, although it is still hard, it was worth it to take a risk and see how much potential and self-confidence I have. I’m still learning myself but it’s an amazing way full of challenges. The way that show me that nothing is impossible and the risk is just incredible opportunity to evolve and know yourself. Risk is the gift that life makes you to show how wonderful life is .

Since I was 20 years old, I have been working as a hairdresser and make-up artist. up to the age of 24, life was easy because I was in my country so i was respect and appreciated .I loved my job so every day was full of satisfaction and satisfied clients. then I fell in love and went to Rome in Italy. and it started to be very difficult there, I was a foreigner and a woman. I got meager wages without a contract, because the employers used the fact that I am Polish and a woman. I also got various proposals for a better life from various rich men, but I never took advantage of them. I have always believed in my strength and talent and I promised myself that even if it takes many years, my passion, creativity and perseverance will achieve my goal. I finally managed to earn the respect of people who know me and one of my clients, seeing how I work, offered me a job as the main hairdresser in film productions. it was my dream come true. When it comes to dreams, there are no compromises and an easy way, you need courage, perseverance and self-confidence. What i wish for is that the women will be treated on an equal footing with men. and that it will only count how good you are and competent, not your age or gender. I am 38 years old and I have a lot of dreams and things to accomplish and I am sure that I will be able to cope with any challenge

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take my best friends on a camper trip to see, for example, the entire coast of Spain or Bali. I don’t like organized trips too much and a camper allows you to stop in beautiful places that you won’t see .if you travel by plane. we would gasp sometimes on the beach in a camper, eating local food, but everything found in a spontaneous way! I love breakfast, so I would probably take care of preparing it or finding a place to eat it. I love the sea and walks, so I wouldn’t miss it. evening bonfires and lots of conversation and laughter. I would like to get to know Bali from the spiritual side, to delve into their rituals and traditions. all without planning , we would just decide what to do and see every day !

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Are so many people and books that helps me evolve and bulging my person and self-love. The first persone was Ewa Zdunek she is a personal coach, writer, court-appointed for couples who want to divorce. She has amazing gift to feel the people and gives such an amazing advice to look within ourselves and find the true power that we have within us. Sometimes is hurd , because not always is nice or good what we see inside us, but is ok , we are made from good and bad shades. it all depends on us which shades will predominate. she always told me that risk is an inseparable factor of our lives and as she says “it won’t happen by itself”. I can say that she made good job to teach me how to live every day and don’t look in the past , don’t look even in futere but just now=present. Sometimes it was hurd but is only way to build amazing tomorrow. My favorite books is also “for 10 minutes “ in italian “Per 10 minuti”CHIARA GAMBERALE .the books is about women that she lost everything in her life and her psychologist Adviced her do new things every day for 10 minutes and see what will happen in 1 mounth. Is all about discovery ourselves, do the new things helps us see all the word around us in different way and how thigs and our view change if we go out from our “comfort zone “.. my parents had a huge rule in my life and that they always believe in me and my possibilities, also all my friends that support me in every my step and thay are all my fans. I think that I’m really lucky persone too have all them int life !
