We had the good fortune of connecting with Lyric S. Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lyric S., what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind the success of Teddy Bare Body is our unwavering focus on meeting the needs of our customers. We strive for excellence not just because it’s essential for business, but because we genuinely believe in the power of exceptional customer service. By truly understanding our customers’ emotions, struggles, and daily lives, we can connect with them on a deeper level. At the core of our brand is a commitment to building a strong, supportive community—one that is rooted in customer-centric principles.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The world needs to know that overcoming obstacles is often not as hard as it seems—the hardest part is simply making the decision to start. Before becoming an entrepreneur, I worked as a Brand Representative, leading a career in sales and customer service. Early on, I realized that while I was good at it, sales was no longer my passion. I didn’t enjoy pouring my energy into companies and supervisors who didn’t seem to notice or appreciate it. I found myself stuck in a male-dominated industry, feeling increasingly uncomfortable as time went on.
Eventually, I transitioned out of sales into direct customer service, which presented a new set of challenges—being yelled at, hung up on, and dealing with frustrated customers who didn’t appreciate the level of service I offered. It was a tough environment, and the hardest part was knowing I needed to leave but not having a clear exit plan.
Then came the leap of faith: about five months ago, my husband and I decided to start Teddy Bare Body, a skincare brand built on the values of customer care and integrity. Now, every sale we make is for a product we stand behind 100%, and we don’t have to endure mistreatment or deal with rude customers. Our business is rooted in our faith, and every day, we lace up our boots and face the challenges ahead with confidence.

So, my message is simple: Don’t be blinded by adversity. Face it head-on with faith and perseverance, and know that on the other side, you’ll be proud of the person you’ve become.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Day 1: We’d kick things off with an escape room for a fun challenge, then grab lunch at a local café. In the evening, we’d meet up with friends she hasn’t seen in a while for a casual hangout, catching up and enjoying each other’s company.

Day 2: We’d spend the day thrifting for unique finds, then grab lunch from a food truck or at a café. Afterward, we’d head outdoors for a walk or park hang, and finish up the day with dinner at a cozy, low-key spot.

Day 3: This would be a day at the TBB office, where she’d get a behind-the-scenes look at how we run things. We’d spend the day working, brainstorming ideas, and maybe sneak in some fun team interactions. Afterward, we’d grab a quick bite and probably spend the evening at home, relaxing.

Day 4: After all the action, we’d spend the day inside—probably catching up on shows, playing board games, or doing something creative. It would be a low-key day of hanging out and recharging, with plenty of snacks and comfort food.

Day 5: We’d take on something fun like a cooking class or a wine tasting experience, followed by a relaxed dinner at a cool restaurant with a unique vibe.

Day 6: Another chill day inside, with Just Dance or board games for some fun, friendly competition. We’d enjoy good food, lots of laughs, and take it easy the whole day.

Day 7: On her last day, we’d have breakfast together before she heads off to visit her mom, leaving with a bunch of great memories from a fun, relaxed week.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Throughout my entrepreneurial journey, I’ve been fortunate to meet some incredible women and entrepreneurs who inspire me daily. A special shoutout goes to my dear friend Maeghan Jones, owner of The Maximize Crew in Powder Springs, GA. Maeghan and her team have been instrumental in helping me grow our social media presence and elevate our brand awareness. I’m also grateful to the entire Maximize Crew for their unwavering support and inspiration—they’ve truly made a difference in my business.
