Meet Lynese | Singer- Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lynese and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lynese, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I was born in Providence, Rhode Island raised in Georgia. I think living in the suburbs kept me out of trouble. Back when my family and I lived in Providence, there was a lot of gun violence and my mom didn’t want to raise me and my brother there. I always would find my way back to the city though. I love the city life more despite the violence.

Growing up in an African household was fun yet very tough. I had to have thick skin at a real young age even though I was so sensitive lol. My dad was pretty strict with me but I worked my way around him lmao.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Im a Singer- Songwriter. I try to write about real life things I deal with. Not only is it healing for me but it’s something I’m very passionate about. I’ve been writing since I was a kid. It hasn’t been easy pursuing music but I’ve learned that nothing is easy and if you want it go get it. Gotta take a lot of risks that may require you to get out your comfort zone too.
I want people to know I’m an artist who loves what they do & I’m constantly working to better my craft by trying new sounds and just doing me.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We going to Juicy Crab for sure!!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mom and Grandma. They played a huge part in my life. My mom always encouraged me to keep singing. She took me to my auditions, showed up to my performances, everything. I really appreciate her for pushing me and inspiring me to be proactive. My Grandma raised me. When my people were working, I was with her and I learned so much.
