We had the good fortune of connecting with Luv’Ashia Collins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Luv’Ashia, what makes you happy? Why?
A lot of things make me happy but if I had to choose one thing it would have to be traveling. Traveling is the closest thing to paradise in my book. I enjoy the luxury of being able to go, experience different cultures, eat and drink new things and meeting people from different walks of life.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career and full-time profession, I work as a Higher Education Professional. I am currently a Career Services Professional and also an adjunct professor at Georgia Southern University. I attended Georgia Southern University and earned both my Bachelors and Masters degree from there as well. I would not say that it was easy because I worked all throughout undergraduate, two jobs exactly. I prayed to God and made a promise to myself that I would do things differently in graduate school to help me balance work, life and balance. God exceeded my expectations.
Sweet Escapes Travel Agency is my travel agency outside of my 8-5 position. I typically dedicate time to Sweet Escapes as soon as I get home after work but I have recently considered creating operating hours to help me maintain work, life and balance. At Sweet Escapes Travel Agency, we specialize in All Inclusive Caribbean vacations but offer a multitude of services that include but are not limited to: Domestic Trips, Cruises, Cabin/ Villa Rentals and we offer passport services for new and renewal passport holders. It has not been easy to say the least but I am a faith based person so I know that God will provide and I will not lack for anything. What sets me apart from others is my drive, passion and expertise. I have been traveling since I was a little girl, thanks to my parents. I know agents that did not travel until they started their business but I am different, traveling is in my blood. I am committed to helping others explore and prepare for their Sweet Escape. Despite the negativity that we see and hear about, I would encourage people to refrain from being closed minded and be open to the many breathtaking, beautiful places that God created for us.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Where I currently live, there are not many options to choose from so we would have to commute about an hour away. However, if my best friend were visiting, I would take her to numerous places. We would eat and bar hop at Del Sur and Gnats Landing, I would then take her to another town not to far from where I am and go shopping at the Tanger Outlet and visit some of my favorite home decor stores. We love to brunch so that would have to be incorporated into the schedule as well.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout God for pushing me into my purpose. I would also like to shoutout my family and close friends. People that are close to me are aware that this has been a dream of mine for some time so I would like to extend my gratitude to those that constantly stayed on me. I am forever grateful for the support, love and encouragement. This is only the beginning.
I would also love to shoutout two of my best friends, Jada and Destine. We started our traveling group last year and are known as the Traveling Hotties. We have an Instagram page: “thetravelinghotties” dedicated to sharing traveling tips and also giving people a glimpse of the luxury vacation life that we live. We have traveled to numerous places together and individually such as: Nassau, Mexico, Aruba, San Diego, Italy, Punta Cana, Jamaica, etc.
