We had the good fortune of connecting with Luis Mora and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Luis, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
DJing was a hobby to start off with. I have always had a passion for music and learning about different genres. One day, someone approached me and asked how much I charge for a party. I thought to myself “I can make money doing this?” I owe my wife all the credit for the business it has become.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Music and dance has always been such a rich part of my culture. It wasn’t always easy. Fory many years, weekends were all about events and being a part of as many as I could possibly get my hands on. Knowing your worth is a lessong I learned througout the years. As I have grown in my career and craft, I have reached a place where I am able to be more selective with events and even take some time off.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Where do I begin? That’s the beauty of Atlanta, there is so much to do…
Coca-Cola is my main profession so I would deffenitly take them to the world of Coke. I would see who is playing that weekend and make sure to catch a Braves, Falcons, United, or Hawks game. We would more than likely get a place at the W Hotel, Buckhead. Some restaurants we would deffenitly have to go to would be American Cut Steakhouse, Bar Taco, Two Urban Licks, and one new place I just discovered is Low Country Steak Restaurant, a must! There are too many to name. Beltline is always a fun place that has a little bit of everything. Breweries whether it be Sweetwater, New realm, Monday Night brewing. Nightlife would just have to be where the wind takes us. Who knows, we may end up at The Claremont (can I say that?)
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife is the most important factor behind my success (maybe I will get brownie points for this). She took this passion and hobby of mine and turned it into the business and brand that it is today. Also my family. I come from a Hispanic background and music and dance is a huge part of my upbringing. My sisters have taught me so much about theatre and musicals that have made me appreciate the arts. There are so many artist out there that inspire me. Michael Jackson, Prince, Outkast, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Cash, Tupac, Biggie, Don Omar, etc. The list goes on. These artist inspire me in many ways but to sum it up, they all made me more open-minded and diverse. Each having their own unique talent made me realize how important it is to share and blend all kinds of music.
