We had the good fortune of connecting with Luis Enrique Perez Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Luis Enrique, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting my own business was definitely something I always wanted to do, however at the time due to my full time job I didn’t really have the time but the idea was always there. Film went on strike and I decided to start and build by business and snack carts myself. I pushed myself and due to lack of work I knew in my head I wanted this to work no matter what. My wife helped me along the way with designing and social media but we always had our focus on bringing Mexican snack culture to Atlanta. Like the authentic street snacks we all love from Mexico City.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our Business consist on spreading the Mexican street snack culture to everyone. I want everyone to experience the street snacks that I had as a kid here in Ga as well as know more about our culture. I think that what sets us apart from other is that we are mobile but also we always bring that Mexican/family inviting vibe that you would experience in the Latin community.

Chispan Snacks is here today because on the idea to bring snacks to everyone’s home/party/event. it all started little by little due to my full time job at the time which was film. Unfortunately the strike came and a lot of us were left without a job. However, that pushed me to put my full effort into something that I had always dreamed of doing. The challenges were definitely big in the beginning & marketing oneself is always hard but thankfully, a lot of support was given to us through our friends & family and also the crazy snack ideas we had and wanted to do which people fell in love with. The lesson I’ve learned throughout this journey is to never give up, but also if you want it that bad and believe in it, then so will others. My wife always says, “the hardest part is actually starting” but once we did, we just kept pushing ourselves and believing and having all these ideas and actually executing them.

What I would like the world to know about our brand is that we are here to create memories for their guests, we like to bring those amazing crazy snacks people will talk about but also bring our culture and our vibes to any event we cater. We pride ourselves in bringing a little piece of Mexico to YOU!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take my friend out to buford highway, it has an amazing food culture from all over the world. El rey del tacos has some of the best tacos I’ve had but also they have amazing Korean food, Indian, and Vietnamese. Easy Atlanta Village is also an area where I’ve worked for 10+ years and they have some really cool bars around like midway, flatiron, 529 is a bar/ venue where there is always a band or a show playing. So ba and Octopus bar is a Vietnamese/ late night restaurant with amazing food and drinks. Mercedez Benz has some amazing vibes when it come to soccer and football. The high museum is always fun and exciting when it comes to their exhibitions. Downtown Atlanta always has an event or concert or game going on.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Definitely my wife, who pushed me and supported me through the whole process. My parents as well who actually helped me built our first mobile snack cart and always lended a hand for events we had and always supported the idea of having a Mexican mobile snack cart.
