We had the good fortune of connecting with Lucy Crivelli and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lucy, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
After experiencing uncomfortable situations on set and not seeing diversity in spaces I was working in, I wanted find a way to build a pathway for Creators of color to own their roles. I was tired of seeing our stories being told by a team that couldn’t relate to our experiences, our culture, or our values. I didn’t realize that what I was building would be a business one day. It was about bringing my skills and everything I learned over the years across Content, Marketing, and Strategy to create a safe space for people who look like me.

While owning my business I took on leading Content and Socials at a start-up called Aglet. A geolocation sneaker gaming app for collectors. In my role I’ve been able to build community, offer opportunities to up & coming brands and creators, and give back to the people who have been building in the Sneakerverse. We recently hit 3.5 million users and we’re still growing. Its an exciting time to be a part of something that’s bigger than me. And I’m thankful that they’ve trusted me to help build with them.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Tomorrow Isn’t Promised is a Mexican + Boricua-owned Creactive Agency and brand that is focused on bringing non-traditional ideas to life. We prioritize brands within Cannabis, Sneakers, and tech because that is where we feel the most comfortable and seen.  TIP is our message to the world to take that risk, start that business, and do the thing you’re most passionate about doing today. We’re a small team, with a lot to offer. The journey hasn’t been easy, we’ve heard a lot of no’s and we’ve had to learn to navigate around corporate agendas but we believe in the power of community and as long as we have that nothing can stop us from growing!

The biggest lesson we’ve learned is that you have to keep going, you might have to pivot, you will evolve, your ideas will change, you will have blockers along the way but again, you have to keep going. You only fail when you stop trying.

We’re very excited about a little event we’re throwing this summer.

On August 20th we plan to launch the apparel side of our business, TIP Supply. TIP agency launched 2 years ago and we never had an official agency event or a launch so we’ve decided to bring our friends, family, and business partners together to celebrate with us!

This is the first time we really get to showcase what we’ve been working on and finally tell our Origin story.

You can expect apparel drops, more art, and plenty of content from TIP in the future!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is my favorite question! Of course, I’m taking all my friends to my favorite spots in LA.

We would probably start off our days with some tea and breakfast from Hilltop Cafe off La Brea.

Definitely hitting the beach, some of my favorite beaches are Dockweiler and Bruce’s Beach!

We’ll also have to check out Gallery 90220, every month they feature a new LA artist.

And you cant forget Randy’s donuts or Antojitos Martin for some sweet treats.
LA has so much to offer, you can always find an event to go to, whether that’s an NFT gallery experience at SLIC studios or simply hit el Mercadito for music and vibes.

But best of all you’ll probably find me watching the sunset at the tippy top of the Kenneth Hahn Park that overlooks the city.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my business partner, collaborator, best friend, and husband Geza Frey. He deserves all the shine. I couldn’t have asked for a more understanding, supportive, and encouraging person by my side. It’s essential to have a strong foundation and trust in the people you’re building with. The constant outpouring of knowledge and opportunities from him have allowed me to grow in my career and grow as a creator. I’m inspired by the way he cares for and supports others and that has encouraged me to do more for my family and friends too.

Another one of my biggest supports is my family. My parents journey leaving their home to move us from Mexico to America motivates me everyday. They took a risk in hopes of a bright future for their family, and I feel like I owe it to them to make my own sacrifices to provide for mine. The humble beginnings my parents were able to provide for my brothers and I, gave me the perspective to not take anything for granted, and to work as hard as I can for everything I want. They set the blue print, now its my turn to finish the job.

My Aglet Team deserves some love! I cant believe its been 2 years since I joined the team. We’ve all grown together, learned from each other, and play life together. I feel like I’m constantly learning. I’ve also never had a job that appreciates how much effort and time I put into the business. They look out for me, and celebrate my growth. I’m just thankful to be here. #TeamWorkMakesTheDreamWork
