We had the good fortune of connecting with Luanda Coleman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Luanda, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to do something that I thought was a need in my city. In everything that I do, I want to have a purpose behind it. It gives me the ultimate gratification of knowing that I’m doing something to benefit and help others around me. I learned while being a nail technician that I didn’t have any place in MY city to shop, so I said, okay, I’ll have to bring it here then. I also have several local Brands that graces my store with their Nail, Skin, or lash products! I wanted to be a foundation where WE ALL can come up. We’re all trying to get our brand/ business out, and I thought how amazing it would be to do it together.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I pride myself on being a licensed Nail Technician that owns a nail supply store. How amazing is that to go into a store and not only shop for the things you need and want but to also get some knowledge that you needed as well. I feel that truly sets me apart from so many other places. I am also the very FIRST and ONLY Nail supply store in my city. I brought something that not only we needed but I am the only one. That truly excites me because like I mentioned before… I love to do things that have a purpose behind it. I started doing nails out of my basement and the.n blossomed to gaining so much clientele that I had to close off my books. It wasn’t even about how good I did nails… it was my customer service that people loved the most. When people sat in my chair… I wanted them to feel like royalty.. getting the luxury pampering treatment. That’s the industry we are in… to accentuate your beauty and have you walk out feeling even more beautiful then you already are. Of course this wasn’t easy at all. There were days where I was like.. forget it.. I can’t do this… I’m not doing this. I was so exhausted and frustrated at times but I knew this was my purpose. It was soo strong in my heart that when I had those thoughts of quitting I trained my mind to know.. I’m only feeling this at the moment. I told my self that this is all worth it. I WILL do great! I WILL be great! Opening my store taught me that if I stick to the plan and just go with the flow. Things will work out exactly the way it’s SUPPOSE to.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love to be out on nice beautiful days and I’m a pretty chill person. A nice fun day for me is grabbing some wine and some snacks and head to one of our local park for a picnic and some great conversation. My favorite place to eat here is Buddy’s Pizza. I love everything they serve there especially their Chicken strips and wedges. My favorite.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
God has been the driving force of this dream of mine. When they say Jesus Take The Wheel. That’s exactly what I let him do. I was in the passenger side just going for the ride and trusting him. My Husband has been my other driving force. His support for me is amazing. My dreams are 1000% bigger in his eyes. He keeps me positive, focus and motivated. Every time I want to just give up and fall he is right there to catch me. Dust me off and tell me to get back up and we will figure it out together. I thank God for blessing me with him. I know for a fact that the plan he has for my life has my husband walking right along side of me.
