We had the good fortune of connecting with Louisa Campbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Louisa, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
As a furniture Refinisher I believe my business Is having a great impact on the world, in the sense that I am able to take old and or unwanted furniture that would typically have found it’s way onto the landfill by refinishing or refurbishing them by breathing new life into them and they eventually get a new home to be enjoyed for many more years to come.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am self taught in my painting aspirations. I started painting little pieces here and there for my home. I re did my kitchen and bathrooms.
In 2020 I painted two dressers that a friend had gifted me, It however did not fit the style of my home so I decided to see if I could sell it, I got a great response on the one of the pieces so I figured let’s see if there is possibly a chance here to turn this into something and that’s how my business came about. What sets me apart is I use quality paints and product, I spray my paints and Top coats “to get a factory finish product. *
It wasn’t an easy journey to get where my business is. Lots of Trial-and-error but with practice and getting inspiration from my Instagram community helped me to purciver.
If the original plan doesn’t work you just have to learn to pivit.
When you purchase from local artists you’re supporting a dream turned into reality. Lots of sweat is put into refinishing pieces but the tranformation process is so satisfying .
My business helps the environment by taking old and unwanted pieces of furniture and turning them into modern pieces that work with today’s home décor which when well taken care of can last for years and years to come. When you support your local artists your support a dream.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well since I am more on the North side of Atlanta I will take them to Tan-Cha (in Buford) for the best boba in town.
