We had the good fortune of connecting with Lorena Ladera and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lorena, how do you think about risk?
Many people think that risk is tied to losing something that could be in line with their personal beliefs. For me, this is quite the opposite. Each time someone makes a decision, they are taking a risk that could ultimately open up their universe of possibilities to learn, grow and gain, even though the impact of our decision doesn’t always turn out as one would expect.

Risk that has changed my life:
The biggest risk I’ve taken so far was when I made the decision to start from scratch in a new country. This decision was largely influenced by the political, economic, and social situation in my country, Venezuela, which was growing increasingly critical. This was a total life change, with fear! However, I was willing and open to receiving what I could learn from this experience and was able to adapt easily, it was and it is still a total personal journey.

This risk was full of experiences, where people would come and go from one’s life, where the advice you receive from others simply contradicted what I believed. But this experience was wonderful for me and it allowed me to connect with my intuition every step of the way. The journey was filled with mixed feelings but my intuition helped guide my decisions and helped me grow in confidence. Now, four years later, I have started my business, Namaste Move OM (NMO).

Depending on one’s point of view, risk can exist anywhere. For example, getting married is a risk, changing jobs is a risk, traveling anywhere is a risk and even speaking up in a meeting when no one wants to hear the truth can be terrifying. If you look at it from the perspective of “what can this teach me?” or “what’s the positive outcome that I’m not seeing?”, and then release this question to God or the universe, according to your belief, and before too long you will see and have the answer.

There is also the option of finding balance. How does one find a fair measure, where decisions can be made with controlled risk? It is precisely about knowing how to understand the context. However, it is also true that, for many reasons, we can make mistakes, such as having overconfidence in oneself, being unrealistically optimistic, or having the tendency to make decisions on impulse and without proper analysis.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
NMO empowers people to believe in themselves and helps connect their power of body, mind and spiritual transformation to live their most extraordinary life. We offer beginner-friendly yoga and meditation classes geared towards women who are seeking to achieve their well-being. To put it simply, we guide you to move om and go beyond your thoughts.

I strongly believe that total wellness begins with yoga, which takes you beyond your mind, to a place where you start caring about yourself. It lays a foundation to connect with your body, and builds on that connection for healthy nourishment and holistic therapy to feel your best.

After four years in the U.S.A., I decided to take a risk and register my business, learning how to develop it along the way. NMO is a start-up and there were many challenges that I needed to overcome, so I am proud of every accomplishment regardless of how big or small. There were times that I would struggle and considered giving up, but it was then that I would remember of where I came from and what I was set out to do. NMO became a life mission, and I used that belief as encouragement to push through the difficult times. It continues to take a lot of dedication, perseverance and commitment with myself to accomplish my goals. And although life will knock us down, believe in yourself and just keep moving forward, no matter how many times you get knocked down.

That this journey began when I connected with Yoga in 2013, and it came at a time when I needed to stop overthinking and being stressed out. I needed to find peace. After just a few classes I realized the positive changes in my life – I became more energized and gained flexibility, both physically and mentally. I found inner strength, and mental clarity, and became more empathetic towards others. But above all, I learned how to love and have compassion for / with / to myself.

That transformation journey was and is so amazing that I wanted to share it with everyone. I wanted it to be the experimental portal to expand well-being and happiness, and I wanted to be the person who could assist them to transform their lives with ease, joy, and glory.

We owe it to ourselves to live our lives with total well-being and happiness. We need to have an awareness that everything depends on our perspective, actions, and decisions, and at the end of the day, we should enjoy each step, accepting the consequences that allow us to be better every day.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take my best friend to enjoy nature in and around the city, visiting the green areas and parks and experience the surrounding areas which are energetically powerful and beautiful.

There is a magical place called Roswell Mills where you can energize your body in the cold water, or simply sit and admire the power of the waterfall and everything around it. This is my favorite place to meditate.

In downtown Roswell, there is an excellent place for Sunday brunch called Fellow Cafe. They have special and tasteful coffees, and the food and service are great!

During the week there is a must-visit Roswell restaurant called Cristy’s Kitchen where you can find the healthiest, most delicious foods in Georgia.

In the city, we would enjoy walking or biking on the beltline. And when we’re done, we would enjoy a cold, refreshing drink at New Realm which has spectacular sunset views from the rooftop.

Must-visit Stone Mountain park to recharge our being with the magnificent energy that it has, the view takes your breath away and watching the sunset it amazing. You knew that  Its origins date back at least 300 million years and today it is surrounded by a State Park of 3,200 acres, It is a quartz monzonite dome monadnock and the largest piece of exposed granite in the world.
