We had the good fortune of connecting with Lorena Harden and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lorena, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started DLS because I saw how financial literacy could change lives. As a single parent, I needed stability and flexibility, but I also wanted to help others—especially those struggling to find work due to a record. DLS provides financial education, tax services, and business guidance to empower people and small businesses.

Logan’s Luck Inc.

Logan’s Luck was inspired by my journey as a mom of a special needs child. I know the challenges firsthand, so I created a nonprofit to support families like mine. From NICU volunteers to back-to-school drives, we step in where help is needed most.

Logistics Business

Logan’s Luck Logistics is the backbone of the economy, and I saw an opportunity to help truckers manage their businesses while creating jobs for those who struggle to find work due to past mistakes. My goal is to provide financial guidance and second chances.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets me apart from others?

What sets me apart is my firsthand experience. I’m not just running businesses; I’ve lived the struggles that my clients and community face. As a single parent of three, including a special needs child, I understand financial hardship, lack of resources, and the challenges of balancing life while building something meaningful. I’ve also seen how having a record, even for a petty crime, can block opportunities, so I make it a point to create second chances. My businesses are built on real-life experience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping others succeed.

What are you most proud of?

I’m most proud of turning my struggles into solutions for others. Logan’s Luck Inc. gives special needs families the support I once needed. DLS Income Tax & Financial Group empowers people to take control of their finances. My logistics business provides job opportunities where doors were once closed. Knowing that my work makes a real impact keeps me going. Becoming an Ambassador of Clayton County and attending different Business Events & Mixers. I have set with Mayors, Commissioners, Governors, Legislators, and others in higher positions has been nothing but amazing. I am looking into a brighter future for myself, kids, and businesses. I have plenty of people who acknowledge my work and see that I am here to assist others like me.

How did you get to where you are today? Was it easy?

It was far from easy. I had to balance motherhood, financial instability, and self-doubt while learning how to navigate business. There were times I wanted to give up, but my kids and my vision pushed me forward. I stayed committed, learned from my mistakes, and kept showing up, even when things were tough.

How did you overcome challenges?

Faith, resilience, and community. I leaned on my support system, stayed disciplined, and reminded myself why I started. Every challenge became a lesson, and every setback was a setup for a bigger comeback.

What are the lessons you learned along the way?
1. Your story is your strength. The things you’ve been through can help others.
2. You can’t pour from an empty cup. Self-care is just as important as the hustle.
3. It’s okay to ask for help. Success isn’t meant to be a solo journey.
4. Never stop learning. Growth comes from being open to new knowledge and experiences.

What do you want the world to know about you and your brand?

I want the world to know that my businesses aren’t just about profit, they’re about purpose. Logan’s Luck Inc. is about community and advocacy for special needs families. DLS is about financial empowerment and creating opportunities. My logistics business is about second chances and economic growth. My story is proof that no matter where you start, you can create a life of impact. I want people to see that with faith, resilience, and hard work, anything is possible.
