We had the good fortune of connecting with Loren Riché and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Loren, how do you think about risk?
Smart people love calculated risks, especially in business. I learned this the harder way, see I used to believe that was long as you were willing to put the work in and had enough passion to run through a brick wall you would be rewarded with the results you so longed for, unfortunately in life this isn’t how it works more times than not. See at some point I got so caught up in the beauty of the the dream, I forgot its called the music business. Business being the main word there. I learned the one who is betting the big dollars isn’t impressed with the wild card ( the one who took the biggest risk) but with the one that is easiest to sell while creating the largest win! There are a million actress/actors in Los Angeles right now, who risked it all to move to the big city and pursue their career, the truth is if you don’t position yourself to have an real chance (a calculated risk) you’ll end up moving back home within the first 2 years. As much as i commend anyone chasing their dreams and betting on themself, I would encourage that same person to come up with a strategy to make sure your risk has a return on investment.

So risk are great, but calculated risk are better!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what makes my art unique is it truly comes from my life, perspectives, ideas, mistakes, lessons, truths..you know. You can have 100 people in the same room, going through the same series of events, and when you ask what happened you will end up with 101 experiences. So when you listen to a Loren Riché song, or buy a RICHÉ Attire piece, or watch a short film, or see my makeup, or the way we put the look together for a show, you get a piece of me or those who inspire me. It isnt always easy to be yourself but for me there is nothing else to be, I believe when people don’t know how to categorized you they say that weird/ that wack, those are the same people standing in line to get your merch. For me its bigger than them buying the merch, its about them knowing its okay to be your sincere self.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First thing we are going to do is go to Thumbs Up for breakfast no questions asked! Next we are going to Lush Nail Bar in Colony Square to get our mannie and peddie while bestie is in town and we are right down the street we are going to the Four Seasons for a 1 hour massage! They literally have the best scents! We have to have lunch more than likely order from Slutty Vegan (one of my favorite places to get a veggie burger) and lounge by the pool as long as Atlanta’s weather permits ! (she is moody) then take a nap as we watch a Power with Joey Badazz on Prime, wake up get fine AF and hit the city for drinks and dance vibes!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Every now and again your steps are divinely ordered and you meet someone that without a doubt you know your life would be completely different had your paths not crossed, for me this is DeJuan Cross. The truth is, with the exception of my brother and mother most the people in my career early on were not very supportive, due to their own hang ups or expectations. I had been through quite a few less that comfortable or professional situation, with that being said I was a bit guarded, DeJuan Cross was helping out a few local artist when we met. After hearing my music he mentioned he would love to work with me, this was very humbling because he was The Man! for sure! Long story short the only thing that ended up coming out of that particular studio was he and I begin working together. He ended up teaching my how to record myself, which personally changed everything for me! He continues to pour into me and EVERYONE he meets not just on a musically level but actively being an activist for things like Climate Control and Social Injustices in USA. I could tell a million stories about how he has enriched my life and career via information, opportunities, lending a ear or his mentorship! Knowing I have a safe place to create no matter how crazy the world gets is truly priceless, especially when its with people who don’t want to manipulate your gifts for their own personal gain!
