We had the good fortune of connecting with Lorea Reid and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lorea, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process behind She’s Rooted is to assist women to connect personally to God through fun, engaging, small groups. I encountered women on a regular basis that were seeking a relationship with God but did not know where to start. I would invite various ladies to church, but they were not interested or were intimidated with going because most were not raised in church like myself. That was concerning to me because I’ve had a positive experience of God through the avenue of the local church. I quickly found that introducing most women to God through a bible study of a few women was an effective way of assisting in a woman’s growth. This was also productive because the ladies could share their personal experiences and ask questions without feeling ashamed. I also created this platform virtually so that females all over the globe could attend at their convenience.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am excited about where She’s Rooted currently is and where we are headed. When we began in January of 2022, we had a website with our information and 5 group leaders. I didn’t know who would come, if any women would be interested in this platform, or what would happen. We didn’t have a marketing campaign, just a flyer and ways to get to the website to register. I quickly found out that what was placed on my heart to do was what many ladies were looking for! Word began spreading fast (in only the way women can spread it) and we have had almost 300 women to go through our 8-week sessions so far this year. I remember the day that I posted our first flyer and the butterflies in my stomach because I knew there was no turning back after the word was out. I learned the valuable lesson that sometimes our worst enemy is ourselves, not others. The challenge that I had to overcome was moving when God says it’s time. I gave 850 excuses to God and God gave me over 850 answers as to why I needed to start. I have come to the conclusion that when a business or anything is pressing on your heart to do, you have to trust and believe that God has your back. I want the world to know that God loves them and walking in your purpose may cost you some inconveniences, but it is worth it. There is nothing that brings me more joy than someone discovering their purpose and what God created them to be.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If you’d like to have a great time in the city, the Atlanta area is definitely that place. I have a love for history, so I’d take them to the King Center to view all of the local history of Dr. Martin Luther King and those who had a great impact on our current civilization. I love a good brunch, so I’d take them to one of the two places, Le Petit Marche or Ray’s on the River. Both of these restaurants have a great laid-back atmosphere as well. I also love live music and a great dinner, so I’d go to BQE Restaurant and Lounge. The singers and food are always amazing. On Sunday morning we’d have to visit the House of Hope Atlanta because the message, music and people are beautiful.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I know for a fact that I would not have had the courage to begin this endeavor without the love and support of my parents, the late Pastor Willie Reid and Gloria Reid. They gave me the solid foundation of faith in God and myself. It was through them that I saw the love of God, a practical way to live, and to enjoy life by laughing a lot and having fun. They have a passion for people and love to see others flourish and receive the love of God. My brothers Willie Jr. and Ryan have also been my biggest cheerleaders, my friends are always encouraging, and my Pastor, Dr. E. Dewey Smith and the House of Hope Atlanta give me the place to grow and be nurtured regularly.
