We had the good fortune of connecting with Long Live Rico and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Long Live Rico, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I was born in San Francisco California but raised in Hayward. I grew up in an area that was very culturally diverse.I’m Black and Puerto Rican so I felt like I never fit in lol..I was in and out of jail most of my life .Music saved me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My music is an expression of my life as it was is and will be .I’ve always been into music since a kid .I played the trumpet in elementary school .I wrote poetry that eventually merged with hip hop .I’d like to say I’m one of the most elite writers on the West coast.My pen can stand the tests against any artist .But I’ve learned even the most creative of us must be humble .I want the world to know that my story deserves to be heard across the globe , and the quality of the music will never decline because it’s real.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d have to says the burrito trucks on Jackson’ street or Backyard Bayou in Union City .As far as fun San Francisco is the getaway but a drive through the Oakland hills always clears my mind .

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I think it was the unusual suspects in my story that motivated and pushed me the most .The little people who do simple things for people and we overlook that everyday .Thanks to the people who try to stay positive and just vibrate higher .It that type of energy and love that motivates me.I want to see everyone win.Why not ?
