We had the good fortune of connecting with LONELY BOY and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LONELY, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued my music to tell my side of the story. Bring an authentic vulnerable and eclectic feeling to music that is reminiscent of the late 90’s and 2000’s. I experienced by first heartbreak at 26 years old and haven’t known what pain felt like from an emotional standpoint, I decided to transfer all that pain into my artistic career. I’ve shared a-lot of stages with incredible canadian acts throughout in cities like Montreal and Toronto. I want to keep telling the story of a strong secure and confident vulnerable black man that we don’t often see through the art of different music genres, cinematography and fashion. I have background in film and fashion and have always been a singer and actively combining these 3 passions into one has been the most fulfilling journey to my growth as a person, not every day is sunshine but the journey is worth it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

I go by the name of Lonely Boy and as an emerging artist out of Canada’s capital who effortlessly combines a unique, sultry and nostalgic R&B sound with a variation of soul and pop influences. I have shared stages with award-winning artists Backxwash and Haviah Mighty, and has adorned listeners with my powerhouse vocals at Pride Montreal, Sofar Sounds Ottawa, and Waveland Toronto. I illustrate a quintessential lover-boy reminiscent of oldschool R&B, when men were more transparent about their love and heartbreak. Upon releasing my 3-part EP series ‘LONELY PPL’, I has received editorial love from Amazon Music, BBC Radio 1 + 1Xtra, and The Blues Project. I am setting out to redefine music by bringing back authentic songwriting often found in older music while colliding with the evolution of genres as it currently stands

I am most excited to release my newest music and showcase where I am at creatively and the maturity and new found confidence in my records that are all unique from from R&B to Rock and performing throughout US, Europe and Canada.

How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy?

It definitely was not easy, it took a-lot of self motivation and ambition to pursue anything creatively especially when you’re not surrounded by creativity. However, its having faith in yourself and purpose that everything that is meant for you will come and actively working towards your goal no matter how big or small, consistently seeking knowledge, studying, asking for help, putting yourself out there, establishing genuine relationships

One thing i’ve learned is building a routine with everything. Routine serves as a streamline for you to accomplish all your objectives such as being organized, having decent levels of discernment, effective time management and interpersonal and communication skills.

I’ve been working towards my moment and I will say that time is a very precious to spend it wisely put your time in to THE things that fulfill you and your purpose. It’s not cliche but absolutely necessary. its all in the matter of timing and being ready for execution and providing consistency in your work/craft.

What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Despite the name, i’m the most popular loner you’ll ever meet. my brand and music is about being vulnerable and sharing the ups and downs of life including love, mental and the overall journey of life.
